My personal two favourites are the Anniversary Subamariner 16610LV, and Sea-Dweller 16600.
Although I'm still not sure if the Dweller is technically a Submariner, or is it in a seperate class ? |

I spent many-months trying to answer this very question, and it ultimately boiled down to a number of personal preferences.
1. On purely practical grounds, I greatly prefer the durability of sapphire to acrylic, which ruled out virtually all the vintage models. 2. I don't like the look of the date magnifying bubble (and my eyesight is still good enough to not need it). This ruled out all but the Sub-14060, the Sea-Dweller, and the DSSD. 3. Anything more than 40mm in diameter looks comical on my wrist, which easily knocked the DSSD off the list. 4. I don't appreciate the way tritium loses its intensity over time and yellows with age, which narrowed things down to Luminova models, post-1998. 5. I think drilled lugs are more practical for swapping between the bracelet and a NATO strap, which left me with models pre-2004. I ended up settling on a Sea Dweller 16600, P-serial from ~2000 that satisfied all of the above preferences. |

if we're talking about the sub-sd range...i think that the best looking Rolex of ALL time is the SD 16600
if we are talking about the strict sub range... |

For me it would be the ''Bond'' Sub without the Crown guard.

This thread raises a question - is there a link to a good source for the sub line over time (with pics), that someone could give me? I'd loe to see some of the models being named on this thread.
My personal grails right now are a 16610 LV and a TT bluesy 16613, but that's probably just because I'm ignorant of much more desirable ones. |

Wouldn't THIS be one of the most desirable (rare) sought after Submariners? Unless not too many people know about them...In any case, the Rolex Octopus or "Sommozzatori"... 78 Pieces commmissioned of which only 28 pieces carry an additional inscription bearing the certification number of the diver to whom it was issued.
Sub DR, Red, or any other version of the Sub (outside of the Comex line), while rare were manufactured line pieces rather than commissioned runs. If there are any more rare Submariners out there, I'd like to add it to my list... IF you can get your eyes/hands on one, they go for around $120K... |

The white dial Sub, only one known specimen, is the most desirable.

...mine is the most desirable...
...1st Place trophy awarded by Rolex for winning the International Rolex Regatta. The Rolex ad posted shows us on our way to also winning the IRC North American Championships and Rolex Big Boat Series in San Fransisco. All up we won 4 Rolex Regattas for 3 Subs and a Yachtmaster. The greatest sporting trophy to win IMHO. Whats the saying..."a crown for every achievement" Great memories whenever i check the time.

What a great prize, much better than a trophy in the cabinet.
