Removing Datejust Crystal
Is it possible that a novice remove the crystal on a datejust? If so, what is the procedure?
THANKS |

Hi,
No, I would not attempt this unless you have practiced for years on disposable watches.

Welcome to TRF!
Eddie is very right! Don't try this at home! The seals at the crystal has to be perfectly fitted again, and you would definately void the guarantee by taking off the crystal yourself. Anyway, if you want to see how a DJ crystal taken off looks like, actually I have a pic for you! This is the crystal of a DJ model 16234 (SS/WG), including seal. The crystal had a scratch on it, and I had my AD exchange the crystal for a fresh one:

Why would you want to remove the crystal?

Dunno about him, but I'd want to remove the crystal to have an antireflection coating put on it (which I'm still thinking about...)
