Nighty night!
So, do you guys wear a watch to bed, or take it off when retiring? If you take it off, why?

In all seriousness though, I prefer to leave it off at night....hate some solid metal biting into my wrist.....much prefer the comfort of having nothing on!! ...but that's another story.

I used to only wear a watch to bed when I was travelling, but I started again when I had the shingles and was sleeping in a different room. I took it off the first night I was back in my own bed, but it just felt strange

Go to bed with out wearing my watch why, it's due to my not wanting to whack it into the wife or bed during my sleep. (leaves terrible ding in wifes head also, dents the wood of the head board)

I wear a watch in bed, usually my Panny. If I've been wearing another watch during the day I change it for the Panny at night because it's easier to read in the dark.

Most nights mine come off, but once in awhile I'll wear it to bed. Seems to be easier to sleep when not wearing the watch, I always worry I'm gonna bang it on the door when I get up at night.

I don't wear my watch to bed at all. Uncomfortable.
The only time I will is if I'm travelling and there's no clock visible from bed. |

Never wear a watch to bed. I may have done so on the odd occasion, such as when I used to go camping in the great outdoors. But that was too many moons ago to count.
If I'm at home, I put it on the dresser with my keys, wallet, money, etc. In a hotel room, I usually put it on the night table next to the bed. That's in case I want to see what time it is at home if I wake up in the middle of the night. Don't ask why i would want to do that. I have no idea.

I always wear a watch to bed, usually the YM as it has tritium markers, so I don't have to "charge it" before going to bed. The reason is that I wake up many times through the night, and like to know what time it is so I know if I should bother going back to sleep. Nothing worse than just getting back to sleep and then alarm goes off - ruins my whole day
My eyes are so bad without contacts that I could not possibly read an alarm clock unless it was 2 inches from my face. So, the watch does a good job! |

I do not wear my watch to bed, unless I am away from home.
The reason is comfort and wear on the band. Sound silly? But just read my rational first. All bands will stretch over time. Even the new solid link bands will. When you wear your watch, that is when the band has the opportunity to stretch. Right? At night you are are not as active, but still you move and your watch shifts. So if you sleep 6 hours a night, 42 hours a week. 2184 hours a year or 91 days. That is extra time that the watch band can wear. Maybe not a big deal, nothing lasts forever, but by taking the watch off 6 hours a day, you could prolong the replacemnt of that new band for awhile. Just like hard impact sports, the Rolex CAN take it, sure, but do you really want to subject it to that if you do not NEED to? That makes sense to me, it does it make sense to anyone else? |
