ok, first off....hello...and welcome.

you will find a difference of opinions here (as anywhere). but personally, i have bought quite a few off of eBay. i have never had a bad experience. quite the contrary, my experiences have always been excellent. it is a great resource if you buy the buyer first.

that said, many better deals here with extremely reputable sellers that specialize in customer service. many many...take a look.

and enjoy the world of candy you just entered. sort of like willy wonka.

Welcome to TRF

Many of the same guys here sell on eBay. They're trusted here and they are trustworthy there.

The moral of the story - buy the seller first - not the "deal".

A trusted seller on TRF or eBay or Amazon or even (perish the thought) CL - is a trusted seller...

I've bought a few from ebay with no problems. As with any purchase though it is important to do a bit of research before making the deal.

Yes, it was an ebay storefront for a bricks and mortar store. There are a few well known pre-owned dealers of watches here in Melb that also have an ebay presence.

Welcome to the forum! As for Ebay, I'd simply be too paranoid to make a big ticket purchase without seeing it in person. Just my opinion but please be careful.

Not from a random guy, I don't care at what savings.

From a known ebay seller with 100% feedback, yes. I would definitely email them before purchasing to ensure its legit

I've bought and sold several watches on ebay...As long as they have solid feedback I don't have a problem buying there...

If you are going to buy on ebay, you really need to be familiar with Rolex. A lot of the complaints about sellers are a result of buyers not reading or not understanding what the seller has put into his description. I have bought about 11 watches, 3 Rolex, on ebay, and the only disappointment was from my own stupidity.

There are many reputable sellers on ebay, the problem is sorting them out from those that are not reputable. There are many reputable sellers here too, and the prices are much better here than on ebay.

Naw, here is much easier. eBay used to be awesome, now eBay and paypal take half your money in fees. Their final value fees are unreasonable and criminal in my opinion.

Stick with this place

Yes, I would and have done so. I'm very careful though as I think most anyone spending a large amount of money would be, but I'm sure you already knew that.

I have. In my experience there are two kinds of eBay purchases:

1) You can buy from a trusted eBay seller and pay a bit more than you would on the forums
2) You can assume a bit more risk, and get a good deal (or get ripped off).

My last eBay purchase I chose option #2 for a good deal on a 16610. Ended up getting bored with the watch in about a week and flipped it on Craigslist for a modest 5% profit. Then I took the money and put it toward a 116610 from a trusted seller on TRF

There's about 2-3 sellers on eBay that I would buy from but this site is by FAR the best if you're in the market...
