I'd suggest you try them both and pick the one you like best.

No discount as the watch is discontinued and folks are looking for them.
That watch, at 39MM is 2MM smaller than the 15400. Also has a small marker next to the date. Some folks don't like this. |

speed, I though the 15300 has a hash and the 15400 has the truncated marker?

I love my 15300. The 15400 is just a little to big

The order in which I like my ROs... 15202 > 15300 > 15400

Because of the design of the lug on the royal oak, the upper and lower part extend much longer than the size of the dial, therefore the watches wear larger in general. I think the general rule on classy watches should be that the lug covers both sides on your wrist, if it's extending beyond and creating space in between your wrist and the lug then it may not look right. You are gonna be very happy either way, after owning the 15300 I would say the dial and bracelet design are truly one of the most amazing designs in the industry....

Get the 15300 while you can. Now that they are discontinued it's getting really hard to find brand new ones left at the ADs. Expect very little to no discount. What I like about the 15300 vs. the 15400 is that it maintains the original RO size at 39mm. A pic of mine to convince you.

A BNIB 15300 is a rare bird, soon to be extinct. It's a fantastic piece that maintains the heritage of the reference. The 15400 has proportions that don't work for me, namely the movement. They stuffed it into a case that's too large and it can be seen in the dial placement.

Man...my obsession with the 15300 is growing. I tried on a similarly sized AP in Vegas this year. The chrono. The 15400 just looked too large on me. I have a blurry iphone wrist shot I keep as a reference every time I think that the new model might work on me.
I think I would have to look into a 15300 LNIB situation...Hopefully the secondary market will be robust next year. Nothing doing in 2012 for me. |

I got a BNIB 15300 a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It might be my overall favorite.

I've had my white dial 15300 for a few weeks now. I just can't help but smile every time I put it on. I wore it during church this morning, and the way the lights in the auditorium made the bracelet sparkle had my 4 month old son mesmerized. As well as his Dad!! It truly is a great watch.

I also had this same question. I guess the one thing that gives me pause is the clasp on the 15300 (with the AP logo). I tried the clasp on the 15400 and it felt super solid. Do you 15300 owners have any issues with the clasp?

The 15300 clasp works great. No issues at all.
