Icon6 Daytona 6263 Project watch for Sale eBay

This looks like a nice watch. What do you guys think?

What does the listing say, "Swiss Made Valjoux Movement 727
Not Rolex Made"?

If for no other reason than the listing says "Swiss Made Valjoux Movement", this means it is a fake. Real Rolex watches all have a Rolex made movement. No modern (say for the last 50 years or so) Rolex has used an outside manufactured movement.

This alone makes it a fake.

Fake and it was run last week and bid to 13k. They are building these from 2 places Hong Kong and Arizona believe it or not in the USA where laws are in place, he even shows Rolex markings on his web site which I won't name cases and automatic bridges and main plates engraved with rolex marking to convert valjoix movements to look like orig rolex ones. How can this be allowed ? Read his add. "Custom engraving." I dare not even state how you can tell its fake on a open forum.
They are pumping out Daytona, sub and Tudor vintage classics. Scary guys watch out.

Someone bought it for $15,600! http://www.ebay.com/itm/200844119937...84.m1438.l2649

Bummer for the buyer if it is not 100% Rolex!

The seller clearly states in the description this is not Rolex made right under where he mentions it has a valjoux movement...

I know there are fakers of Rolex Daytona 6263 or 6265
but other than the $700 to $800 dollars for a Valjoux 72.7...?
They do give you original bracelet $600, original dial $2000, original pushers
& crown $1,000...but not original case - but today cases are made 95% like the original
compliments of Viet-Nam...Gang-Nam style...lol.

Then they go to auction sites and copy real serial numbers from past auctions
so they can engrave the fake cases for serial and ref: number
Also buy from ebay... box, booklets, open papers etc....and presto you have a full set.
Total is around $4,000 to $6,000 dollars when you know you are buying "a monkey"

But $15,600 for a "monkey's" head (?) I think it is criminal.

Ya all... be carefull what you are buying out there..especially the new fakes - modern Rolex watches...
these are as real as they can come for about $600 - Gone are the cheap fakes for 50 which you could tell
from a mile away...now it is top art with real movements and all.

Have you heard of Zenith Daytonas?

Here's the first thread on this watch:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...hlight=Valjoux

Here are my comments in that thread:

1961 - 1987 = Valjoux 72 (renamed Rolex 722) movement
1988 - 1999 = Zenith El Primero movement
2000 on = in-house movement

The listing is accurate re the movement. The pix aren't good enough to make a call on authenticity, but it does appear to have a correct domed acrylic crystal.

Rolex has certainly used outsourced movements. The Zenith was detuned from 36,000 bph (10 bps) to 28,800 bph (8 bps) for better compatibility with Rolex lubricants.

Rolex used Valjoux 72 and 727 (hand winding) prior to using Zenith movements (automatic) in their Daytonas. So as Alcan points out, the listing is absolutely correct with regard to the movement, there were no Rolex inhouse movements made for Daytonas prior to 2000.

If the rest of the watch is ok, the price around 15,000 is a real bargain, as these watches go for the double at least. I emphasize again, if....(as I am not so sure about case and dial being original).
