Insure and lovingly place on the bedside table. Sure the entire collection is exposed, but I get to enjoy them each and every day. If something bad happens, I get to go buy new watches. Life is too short.

Forgive me, but it sounds like your local banker is telling you a tale to keep your business in his branch. I'd get on the phone a call a few other branches and tell them your predicament.

Rolex plastic shipping boxes and travel pouches, but recently purchased a padded watch box from Jedly.

Why keep watches in a safe deposit box? Just insure them and keep them in the house.

These Sack-Ups are great for storing watches in safety deposit boxes (though I only have experience with 5x5 boxes). They supposedly wick moisture away from the watch, but I still put a bag of desiccant in the box with them...

Some watches can't be replaced even if you insure them. Though, many insurance companies won't cover your watches if they are stolen from a safety deposit box anyway, unless you buy additional insurance. This can be a real problem since employees at banks have been stealing things from people's safety deposit boxes...

Likewise, storing expensive watches in your house is an invitation for either a break-in or home invasion. Better to risk someone stealing it from a bank box than breaking into your home and possibly hurting your family, IMO. Even with a top notch alarm system in my house, an industrial safe bolted to the floor, and the police department 1/2 a mile down the road, I still won't take that kind of risk...

Sounds like it, doesn't it? I called other banks and they are running the same promotion as well.

Seriously. Around $100 a year for a 5x5x11 box is nothing in the scheme of things. If any of my local branches had bigger boxes available I would gladly pay more to be able to put them in the box on winders...

Agree. Also can cut down on insurance rates if you do insure your watches. I only have two pieces out at any given time - less to think about and the bank is down the street so it's not that big of deal to swap.

As to the original question, all great ideas. I use a couple of leather watch rolls, and in some cases Veraet watch wipes.

I was thinking about using leather rolls, but it worried me that you roll them all up in it. Is there any chance or possible way that they can bang into each other while rolling the leather roll up?

The Sack-Ups are great, but they take up a lot of room.....

Not sure what they are promoting, but I assume you mean they also don't have boxes available. That's wild to me, a SDB is something I always took for granted. I use the Oakley watch cases in my box. And also have some thin leather pouches for those on straps. Works well and doesn't use much space, but 2" by 5," I'd think all that would fit would be a passport, some keys, and a couple of business cards.

The plastic Rolex boxes are a good idea.

Of course they are.

They are of no use in the hands of some scumbag burglar.

If a home safe were practical, I'd have one, but as it is, the bank is the perfect place for my watches to rest up for the next challenge.

I have an industrial home safe (fire/burglary proof) bolted to the floor (not that it is going anywhere at almost 500 lbs; three muscle bound men couldn't budge it and needed special equipment to move it!), but that won't prevent someone from hurting or killing you or a loved one to get the combination if they invade your home. Certain pieces are a dime a dozen, and I don't mind storing them in the safe and if worse comes to worse a robber may feel generous for the score and leave peaceably. Others are more rare, and not so easily replaced, so I keep them at the bank.

This poor family's tradgedy near my area convinced me to take over-the-top precautions in my house...

I have several alert systems built into my house (including in the safe).
