Have seen the why did you buy A Rolex . And got to thinking Why did you sell your Rolex was more fitting ? "Sign of the Times” kinda thing as many people here buy and flip their Rolex. But for what ?
Had me A Rolex but flipped my Submariner for A GMT2C
Had me A Rolex but sold it for Christmas fast cash etc.etc
Why did you Sell/flipp your Rolex for?

hope im not breaking the thread rules, but i sold my omega smp co axial. mainly because i realized i couldnt wear "small" watches anymore... :) after a while it drove me insane until it was gone..... lol

Quality is always the sign of the times. This fad with larger watches will pass, but the desire to own quality will not. Rolex is refered to as one of the top quality watches on the market.

I flipped a TT TOG for a Polar Expy II.

Had a new Daytona and decided to pass it on as it is not my kind of watch.

Found someone who had two other Rolex I wanted in the same near-new condition. Added some cash, now I have what I want as double package. Still happy I did it.

I don't think the 'fad' of the larger watches is a fad. As the Baby Boomers get older and have even more disposable income and as their close-in eyesight gets worse they are going to buy larger watches with larger hands, just to be able to easily see the time. That's why I bought the Explorer 216570. The larger watches will be here for years.

But never fear, they'll still make the smaller watches.

I guess in last year flipped 10 or so? Can't keep track...2-Daytona's, 2-Sub's, A-K, Expl.II, Sub Bluesy, YM, 2-DJ's, RG-DD, a few more I can't recall. There was an Omega SMP in there too somewhere

The keeper out of all that was a Root Beer GMT. Also picked up some Ball Watches which may be kept.

I guess the reason is that I see a good deal and jump on it - then if I can improve it with an overhaul and sell/trade it on with positive upside - then I get to wear a lot of different models over time without depreciating assets.

Baby boomers have nothing to do with it. When 32mm was considered huge in the 30s and 40s, there were still older people wearing them.

There was a time when the AirKing was considered gigantic.

My two Rolexs are 34 and 40mm. They're perfect for me.

I wish I was able to find the deals you guys do. I would love to be able to buy multiple watches and wear them for a short time and turn them for a profit. Seems like a real cool thing. Anybody want to through me a hint on where. Lol

I had a vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual I bought off ebay a while back. It didn't have a watch band. I put a Rolex leather strap on it. I think I wore it twice.. just wasn't into it. I liked my sub too much. I turned around and sold it and made a little money on it.

I flipped my Milgauss GV for a DSSD. The Milgauss was my first watch and I loved the look of it, but no date is why I flipped the watch. Both are beautiful watches, but for my uses and my personality, the DSSD is more of my style. I'm a typically younger Rolex owner, and liked the size. I'd like to purchase a TT blue Sub after I finish school. However, my next Roloex purchase will be for my sister. She has three kids and works her tail off, and it makes me happy to see her have nice things.

I've flipped quite a few non-Rolexes, but only one Rolex.

It was a GMT 16710 black bezel insert, a friend had just acquired a Submariner 16800 matte dial, we made a deal, I got some cash and a great submariner....

Yes, I do miss the GMT, I will get a vintage GMT one day...
