Polished Center Links Question

Could anyone out there tell me when the PCL oyster bracelets first appeared on Date & Datejust stainless watches?

I hate PCL's. They look like crap within a year. Rolex should give the owner the option of brushing the bracelet upon servicing the watch.

I'm sort of on the fence re: PCL's. They work well on some models and maybe not so well on others.

Any idea when that style of bracelet came in to use on the date & datejust models Rags?

I don't know when they started, I'll search around and post if I can dig anything up.

I agree with Rags. PCL's are bittersweet. I got them on my DJ2, it looks soooo hot, but they get so scratched up . My Sub C is 3 times older and still looks brand new.

I will say though they polish up, to "like new" with my Dremel.

I love the PCL. I have a GMT and it looks awesome. It give the watch that extra bit of glamour and it takes an already great watch to a incredible status.

With regards to the scratches, my watch is 3 years old and still looks awesome. It has to do with how you treat and take care of your watch. If you wear your watch when you work on your car, well expect the watch is going to look rough in a short time. However, if you treat it with the respect that a fine watch should be then expect years of scratch free ownership.

Hmmm....trying to think....You'll definitely find PCLs in the mid-90s on stainless steel Daytonas.

My 116400 GV has incredible PCLs after one and one half years of daily wear. About choice; well you really do have the choice what you do with your watch, don't you.

For me, I like them the way they were meant to be which is usually the way Rolex seems to make them at service intervals if you follow their advice. Just sayin'...

Ok.

Found out some info re: this from an AD service technician. Apparently the PCL's first appeared on the Datejust in 2006 & on the date model in 2007.

2004 was the first year that they showed up on the Turnograph.

As an aside, 2004 was the first year that they started the PCL's on solid gold models.

PCL's are a nice addition on some pieces. If I end up with them on a Daytona or GMT in the future, I'll invest in a dremel and some help to have the CL's always looking great. A small price to pay to ensure that the watch is always looking great...
