Show me a vintage "mint" watch

I love these terms. "Mint" What does that mean. If someone has a 15 year old Zenith Daytona that was bought for many thousands of dollars, than put in a safe never worn or taken out of the box, I want to see it. What would be the point. Does anyone really think a modern day Rolex is going to increase some astronomical value if bought new and never worn?

I agree, it would be pointless to buy a watch and put it in the safe. The things that one day will be collectables are not considered collectables or even attractive when in production, such as the now vintage Daytona

I bought this Moonwatch Speedmaster 6-7 years ago. It was NOS from a jewler. The bracelet had never been sized. I had to cut the yarn that held the hangtags from the bracelet, and burn out the rest from between the links. It was a 1978-79 build that the card was filled out in 81 and never picked up.

I am old enough to say I drove American muscle when those cars were new. They were just cars. I do have sevral cars from my youth today that put a big smile on my face. There are many however that are "experts" on these cars and were not even born yet. Those are the ones that are upside down and are crying because they can't get double digit yearly return on their car purchase. I drive all my cars and don't own a trailer. I feel the same way about Rolex watches. If I was not going to wear them, and have them show normal wear, I sure as heck would not have bought them. JMO which you can take or leave at your pleasure.

Prefer that bracelet to the modern one. The latter has small polished bits that over complicate the look. Nice, but that all brushed one is nice!

Very nice watch. I was pondering purchasing a gillette safety razor and Rolex watch from my birth year.

You dont have to get it....

You asked to see a vintage "mint" watch, and the gentleman showed you one. He made no mention about whether or not he wore the watch. You asked for pics, and he obliged.

That is a great looking watch, congrats!

At the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale last year a 1979 Corvette with 3.5 miles sold for around 32k. The car new was about 16k, so the return on the investment was minimal and probably around 2%. Not good for a 32 year investment.

I couldn't own a watch and never wear it, but lets be thankful that these NOS watches exist!

Am I wrong or is that actually a PO bracelet?

It's an original Speedmaster bracelet, the 1171. I love those bracelets, looks like the presidents bracelet.

I guarantee someone would shell out double the original MSRP for a 16710 with a 3187 or LV in half a second with stickers in place twenty years from now.

Safe queens have never been my style but I can appreciate those that do buy them with intentions of eventually peeling the stickers back for their own NOS watch. I've heard of some that buy them as birth year watches for their children which is pretty cool! Wish my family thought of that!
