FS: Rolex 1625 Datejust Thunderbird Turn-o-Graph, circa 1966
Rolex 1625 Datejust Thunderbird Turn-o-Graph, circa 1966
Standard Datejust 36mm width without the crown, and 44mm long lug end to lug end--20mm lug width I really believed that I would never sell this watch, but the undeniable fact that I never wear it has made me feel guilty for keeping it, to such an extent that I now believe someone else should enjoy it. I know I'll regret selling it as soon as it's gone, but keeping such a nice watch in my watch case and never wearing it makes little sense. This timepiece is all original. The case and back are stainless steel and the bezel, which rotates smoothly and accurately, is solid yellow 14k gold. I'm fairly certain the crown and hour markers are also gold. The watch was serviced earlier this year by the previous owner and runs great. I've worn it twice for very brief periods and have taken very good care of it. The serial number dates it to 1966. Many of the older Rolex model 1625 watches (like mine) sell for more than the recent ones. I've noticed this on eBay...don't know why. I have the Rolex OEM all stainless steel (no gold in the middle of the links) bracelet that came with the watch. It has a few of the usual and minor"desk diving" marks but is in very good condition. I will sell the watch with or without the bracelet. Included is a genuine Rolex box (not the original). Some of the spots in the photos are dust or lint. The watch looks even more beautiful and makes an even better impression in real life than the photos suggest. I did not want to risk adding more scratches to the case back so I did not try to remove the back with a metal case opener. I tried with a small soft rubber ball that cannot scratch (available on eBay) but was not successful. The back was obviously tightened to make sure of its water resistance...even though I would not expose the watch to any water. I will not guarantee it to be water resistant. I examined the dial carefully with a loupe and noticed that it has some minor aging, but this is visible only under close magnified scrutiny. It is not obvious under any other circumstances. Indeed, the dial looks nice. The back has a few scratches, but nothing that detracts from the watch's value or beauty. The gold crown screws down tight, unscrews smoothly, and sets the time and date smoothly and properly. The acrylic crystal looks like it's in great condition. The date function works properly. I'm fairly certain the movement is non-hacking. The movement is a perpetual (automatic) certified chronometer and is ticking along very nicely. Sitting on my desk it has been keeping very accurate Rolex time at a rate well within COSC standards. I hesitate to add the following because I will not guarantee the specification once it leaves my desk, but it's currently running at +/- right around 0 to 0.5 seconds per 24 hours...sitting on my desk. The dial is what I would call a satin matte champagne gold color with baton stick hour markers. The model number and serial number marks on both sides of the watch are clearly visible. I'd rate the watch a solid 90%, mainly due to the minor dial aging (patina would be the euphemism). The bracelet is in very good condition. I will include a nice genuine Rolex box (not the original). My price is $2,200 with the Rolex bracelet, or $1,995 for just the watch alone. These prices are currently FIRM, and in my opinion represent very good deals. Included is FedEx fully insured shipping to the U.S.A. Sorry, no international shipping. PayPal is acceptable but will incur an additional 3%, or I will gladly accept a certifed bank money order or certified bank check, or a USPS money order. I will also accept a personal check, but will wait for it to clear before shipping. No trades of any kind, thank you. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me at cgalny at hotmail with any questions and/or if you would like to buy it. Or call me at 585-260-1244 between noon and 10PM EST. I have bought and sold several watches on various watch forums and have a perfect 100% feedback rating of 515 on eBay (under "cga") since 1997. I just sold a Rolex solid gold vintage 1503 on eBay (which the buyer likes very much...check my feedback). My reputation is more important to me than money and I am a firm believer in the Golden Rule. Three day return policy if watch is not as represented. Buyer responsible for shipping. Thank you for taking the time to read this listing. |

$1950 for everything. I don't think you'll find this watch with band and box for this low a price, in this condition, elsewhere.
