American import

I’m new to this forum, so I hope no body minds if I pose a question ? I will have been primary school teacher 20 years in February 2013 and was going to treat myself with a nice watch.

I was looking on internet and spotted this company www.luxurytimemart.com
there's the link, American company.

They seem to be saying they can supply brand new Rolex models at substantial discounts to UK dealer prices. I have priced a new men’s Datejust black dial, jubilee bracelet model number 116200 in Northern Goldsmiths, Newcastle at roughly £4500 and on this website at £2800.

Am I being scammed / conned here, they say they deliver from UK stock via royal mail, they say that there is no import duties payable and that the £2800 is the final price.

Does anyone out there have any ideas / thoughts please? Is this too good to be true.??

Thanks everyone and happy xmas 2012

John

I'd be more than skeptical about the statement.

Duty / VAT is payable on the declared value and the watch should be fully insured.

Trying to reconcile the above two statements is the problem.

You posted this already in the who's who section. You don't need to post in numerous forums to get an answer. Just once will be enough.
Btw, welcome to the forum

Hi, if any of your purchases are from outside the EU then you are liable for UK taxes when the watch is parcelled to you so factor in the cost. Personally I would find a reputable UK dealer and purchase from the UK. Welcome to the forum and best of luck.

Welcome to the forum!!!! Unless I know from first hand experience that a website is legit, I will stay away from them. Your best bet is finding a trusted seller that can ship to UK or paying full price at an Authorized Dealer. Have you tried looking in the "For Sale" section here?

Im new to his forum as well, but have learnt enough from the good folks on here to avoid that website with a barge pole !!!

A quick google search revealed that luxurytimemart have only been running for 6 months, and are stating that they are having problems with their credit card facility, and are asking people to pay by western union !!!!!

Just look at their prices £4270 for a sub116101lv £6050 at an ad

here you go ,,, why not pop past their place and pick it up ,,,, with a saving like that you could travel anywhere in the uk , infact it would cover a plane ticket to the states ,,,
i have bought from the states before , and unless its a killer deal , taxes get you badly.
id steer clear of it myself
welcome to the forum too.

I'd suggest you remain very patient as you go through the process of finding the right watch and seller. If you keep your eye on the for sale section here you will see from time to time watches being sold by UK sellers. These would give you the best potential savings.

Now then I am from Yorkshire myself but now live in America, you will always have to pay customs on high value items entering the uk. The bill will arrive at your door before royal mail will deliver the goods as well. I bought my Rolex from tz-uk which is mainly people from the uk which maybe worth a look.

£4500 is almost 15% off UK RRP on a 36mm DJ, that's quite a substantial drop (in UK). offer to pay cash and maybe save a couple % more due to credit card transaction fees?
