Early 50's Rolex ID

Hi
I was wondering if anyone could identify the model and year of this Rolex - I know it is early 50's perhaps '51 or '52? any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks

Identifying numbers are on the case on each side between the lugs and inside the caseback..

Those would help tremendously..

its an old oyster perpetual, as tools states the case lugs are the key to dating (approximately) the watch and exact model. The watch has "alpha" hand and older style and "arrow head" markers, i hope that helps a bit. The caseback on the inside will also likely have a date code, if you can open it also. regards

Thats the prototype for the Explorer carried by sir Edmund Hillary to the sumit of Everest in 1953

Could be a 6098

Edit: here's some more info on that particular watch

Can someone please explain the difference between "alpha" and "dauphine" hands... if there is a difference.

The shape dauphine are thick where they all meet at the pinion. Alpha hands are thinner near the pinion as they start to taper inwards towards the pinion quite sharply.

Adam, I know I asked in that thread but don't recall getting an answer. If you did respond and I missed it, I apologize.
