Will Rolex Ever Change?????

Although I prefer the smaller offerings, I do like how Omega handles the large watch market. Like a large PO? No problem. Smaller watch? Sure. Regular sized Speedies and reduced sizes are both offered. Seems like a good compromise to keep customers that are otherwise loyal to a brand to stick around when shopping for different size watches.

I'm not sure why watches are fundamentally any different to any other mass market consumable. You don't like what the brand offers then there is another brand out there which will meet your requirements.

If you are so locked into the idea of the brand and want to buy into it even if it doesn't quite or currently meet your needs then you are buying it for the wrong reason IMHO.

Personally I too prefer the older models so it's irrelevant to me what Rolex choose to do or not do re size.

Whilst recently carrying out research into cults and religions at a local library I discovered a little known cult of fanatical individuals and thought it prudent to share this information. This shadowy group use various tactics to try and spread their influence and force individuals 'to behave as they do'. As a group they are very vociferous on certain days of the year, (particularly when Jupiter is in line with Uranus).

Though shalt not wear an Omega sports watch.

Though shalt not wear a Breitling sports watch.

Though shalt not wear a Jaeger Le Coultre sports watch.

Though shalt not wear an Audemars Piguet sports watch.

Though shalt not wear a Vacheron Constantin sports watch.

The list contains the names of numerous other watch makers but their real fury is reserved for a watch that is called a Rolex Deepsea Seadweller, known to this cult in code as the DSSD. They see the type of people who wear this watch as traitors to the cause, a breakaway group from the mainstream cult.

The pamphlet further states that anyone caught wearing one of these DSSD's must be publicly flogged with a Nato watch strap (buckle end first) until they do two things;

1/They shout repeatedly "It's tooo big, it's tooo big"

2/They promise to join the cult and spread the word at every opportunity.

Who are this shadowy group..........The 40 mm Taliban

Beware they are not easily spotted in the street, the only outward sign is that their left wrist is smaller than their right....... You have been warned !

I owned 40mm to 48mm size of watches from Daytona to AP , I don't care people saying i look ridiculous or I look funny wearing the size of my watch. As long as I like it and I can afford it I don't care. Its my money and I love my watches , and will enjoy wearing it all the time :)

Didn't the size of the sub increase in the past couple years? My 2009 sub is noticably smaller then what I saw in the store a couple weeks ago. Thinner too.

I like the size of my 2009 sub, more of a classy dress look to it. If I want big and hulking, I wear one of my breitlings.

But then again, i am saving for a DSSD, so I can see the point, but I think Rolex doesn't fit the big hulking watch profile in the watch market. No one looks at Rolex for that type of watch when you have breitling or on the high end Hublot that already have watches with huge cases that fit that look

Rolex makes Tudor & Rolex watches for men from 34mm-44mm, good, classic & timeless sizes.......and IMHO, their watches wear bigger than their specs.

Rolex doesn't need to produce larger watches or gimmicks to maintain sales

From a size perspective, I'm very happy with the current lineup. I would, however, like to see Rolex step up from a horology perspective.

personally, i think the sub reached its apotheosis with the 16610. the new sub c, while it has its merits (bracelet, lume), is too bulky looking to my eyes. so the thought of a 42mm or, horror of horrors, 44mm sub is ridiculous as far as i'm concerned.
