Out of those two it would be the Daytona for me........I would get a PO before a Sub without question.....having said that the LV c is a good looking piece.

Besides the obvious differences in style, which is certainly a personal preference, functionality to be considered is:
1. Glidelock 2. Date 3. Size The third factor is especially to be considered if you wear tightly cuffed dress shirts; while the Sub is often touted as being versitile, it does not fit under a dress shirt's cuffs as well as a Daytona, due to size, texture and shape of the bezel.

What seems odd to me is that both pieces perform different functions, yet almost all advice trends toward the fashion aspect.
I recommend getting the one that will suit your needs. Do you need to time events to the second and don't mind awkward screwdown pushers? Get the chrono. Do you value waterproof, go anywhere function, with a very useful elapsed timer bezel and date? Go sub. A great way to find out for yourself is to buy a cheaper seiko or whatnot and evaluate what you like or miss, then "upgrade" later. Do you want to make a fashion statement? Your call, really. |

I too sold my original 1675 GMT which I now regret. I thought I wanted a white dial Daytona, so I bought it. I have bad vision and can't read a thing on it and is therefore useless. I have heard the same from guys with normal eyesight. I am selling it and getting a 114060 ND Sub C. It looks great and like the GMT I can actually tell what time it is!

I loved my Sub Date and had no intention of ever changing it until I tried a Daytona on. I now have both and rarely wear the sub. Buy the Daytona and there's a chance you will be happy with one watch, if you buy the sub you will eventually buy a Daytona aswell!

Since it's to be your only Rolex the Submariner may be the more practible choice, the Daytona is a touch more challenging to read compared to the Submariner.
I own both (older Sub) and similar to others the Submariner is on the wrist Monday to Friday, with the Daytona for weekends. |

I just purchased a SubC. My intensions are to keep the SubC as a daily driver and acquire a Daytona (SS or TT, not yet WG/YG) as a more formal timepiece. Both are beautiful timepieces. In my opinion, however, patina on a Submariner wears better than on a Daytona.

Both are great and both are unique pieces. Go for what you like or need most - you live only once.

Might be worth getting the sub and waiting to see if Rolex do something new with the daytona. If they do, you could always flip it if you prefer the new daytona and you wouldnt take too big a hit on the sub. Preferably keep the sub as well.
Sub is an icon an IMO a better daily wearer...brushed bracelet and ceramic bezel and date. For now I would buy the sub |

I think a Sub and a Daytona should be part of any collection so ideally get both eventually, but Sub first.

I bought my white dial Daytona and then one year later bought the new subc date and now my Daytona doesn't get much wrist time.
SubC with date is the way to go

Two very different watch. Get both. Otherwise you'll probably keep thinking "I should have gotten the other one".
I'd say go with Daytona first. Even though it's much easier to get SS Daytona these days, to get a new one from AD with your name on the Card (if that matters to you) is still less likely to happen again than with a SS Sub unless you know the AD well.

Start with the sub and save up for a Daytona. Can't beat the sub versatility.

So I decided on the Sub. With the idea of waiting till the updated Daytona comes out.
Now the question is Sub Date or No Date? |
