Watch appraisal San diego?

Hi guys I recently bought a new SUB C from one of our trusted TRF sellers, Im trying to get an appraisal for insurance purposes but alot of the places want to keep the watch for over a week, one even told me they have to open the watch up to make sure its real. Is this common,? (sorry i dont know how this process works ) Does anyone know of a place in SD i can get my watch appraised that wont keep my watch for an extended amount of time?

I think it depends on the Jeweler. I took mine in today to a local guy (he was really excited to see and hold a Rolex, not too many up here I guess) and he told me that he would not open the back as I informed him it just came from service. He said that if busy it would be a few days, not two weeks. It appears that the place you visited has appraisals low on their list, shop around to other places. Good luck!!!

Unfortunately it is not uncommon but if you have the original paperwork and shop around you may be able to avoid it. When I bought my GMT II from a trusted seller here I started calling local AD's to get an insurance appraisal. The first two I called said it would take at least two weeks as they send the watch out of state for the appraisal. They also wanted approximately $100 for the appraisal. The 3rd one asked me if I had the box and papers, which I did, and said they would do it on site for $10. Guess where I went. They verified the paperwork matched the watched and wrote up the appraisal without opening the watch or sending it out of state. She did tell me that if I didn't have the papers the only way they would do an appraisal is to open it and verify the movement which I'm sure would add to the cost.

Good luck.

I just asked my insurance agent and got a couple options from them. depending on who you bought from, some of the trusted sellers can do it if you ask them.
