I finally decided on which Rolex to get

Hey all,

As some of you may know, I had a hard time deciding which Rolex to get, but today I visited an AD and I had a look at the new TT GMT-c. Unfortunately they didn't have a SS model, but after inspecting this watch I decided the SS GMT-c would be my first Rolex.

For a long time, I didn't know which Rolex to get: The SS Sub Date or the new SS GMT. For me it was like choosing between the classic/perfect look of the Sub and the improvements of the new GMT. The problem was, there were some changes on the new GMT I didn't like. At least, that's what I thought...

I had some problems with the maxi dial, the super case, the busier design of the dial/bezel and the polished center links. But I only knew the watch from pictures. When I saw the new GMT in person I was quite shocked: The Maxi Dial, the Super Case, etc.: Everything looked just perfect!

I guess it's almost impossible to judge a watch only from pictures, you really have to see it. I can't believe it made such a difference!!

But, of course the new GMT is more expensive than a Sub Date, so I shall have to wait a little longer. But I think it will definitely be worth the wait!

Good for you, Dennis! Like you, I was initially hesitant on buying the GMT IIc based on the pics that I saw. I actually went ahead and bought the Sub Date first. Then a week later, I saw the new GMT in person and had to have it. The rest is history...

I really feel like I made the best possible choice, even though it's still going to take a while before I can actually put the SS GMT-c on my wrist. However, in the mean time, the Omega 2221.80 will be on my wrist, and I just love that watch!

Good choice - 1/2 the battle is figuring out what watch you want so at least that is now behind you. You will love the GMT IIc.

There are so many comments you read on one or another forum about specific design details that people don't like, from the case lugs to the numbers on the bezel to the maxi-dial to the polished center links to the CRB (did I miss any???) but when you actually see the watch in person (and better yet on your wrist), you realize that it looks just about perfect.

They do look awesome in person. Walked away from one last week as I really wanted the LV. I'll be cheering when you get it.

Excellent choice. If, I have to it over again of select my first ROLEX today. I would not think twice of getting SS GMT MASTER IIc. Now, it look just like SUBMARINER. But, it is better. It does everything like the Sub plus giving you extra hand for second time zone. The old GMT II has smaller crown, which I don't like. Even that, I still love my Black/Red GMT II.

Wait until you get a hand on GMT. I don't care how much you love you Omega. It will be in your draw instead of on your hand.

I also have my favorite TT Omega constellation with two inner dial for day and date with leather strap. After I got GMT, I go back to look at it once a while. And, replace the battery when it stop, then put it back in the draw.

I'll certainly do that, but unfortunately it will have to wait for a long time.

Man, I want that watch so bad, I'd almost get a second job

I went to another AD today and had a look at the new TT GMT. The owner told me the SS GMT-c's are selling so well they never had a chance to put one behind the window! Also, she said she wouldn't give me a discount, not a penny!! She said: "Well, it might sound a little harsh, but if you don't buy the watch at this price I'm sure someone else will." That's a good point, but if she doesn't mind I'll check out some other AD's as well.

Waiting has to be one of the most frustrating things in life, but on the other hand, the fact I've to work and wait for the GMT so long will make the day I purchase it all the more special. I ain't waiting for fun though
