Explorer II

I've decided that this is definately my next purchase although it will have to wait till after the monster family Greek holiday in August.
I can get one brand new for £2480.00
Thats about $5k.
Is this about right?

That's about right for MSRP. See if you can get a discount.

You should be able to squeeze a bit more discount from an AD.

Expect to pay around £2300 from a specialist or £2100 nearly new at one of the numerous selling forums.

Either way it's a great watch.

You should be able to get a discount on the Exp II. I've been wearing mine today, so here's a pic to get you to August

Excellent choice, go for it.
its like having a GMT, but without a definite Rolex stamp: ie not the most recognizable Rolex.
once you get used to it, you may not want to spend time wearing other Rolexes... :)

I can't wait to get mine!!! I will order a black panerai strap with white stitching to go with it too...

Not to take over this discussion, but my AD has 2 white face Explorer II, one with the lugs with holes and another that's newer style with no holes in the lugs. Both watches are brand new...not sure what to go for.

Any advice?

Sorry Mopsey for bringing this up in your thread.

cheers

Good price, but see if you can squeeze the lemon a bit more.

I look forward to seeing the pics!

That`s a good price,Mopsey. However, there`s no mistake with Explorer II,even if you slightly overpay it you`ll be very pleased with it!Believe me,I am!

Great choice and a great price.

Took my new Explorer II with me on a trip back home downunder and put it through the paces... some outdoors stuff, 4wd'ing, yachting... yeah, came through with flying colours, +1.5/day.... sensational... Reading the Ran Fiennes autobiography now to get more into the Explorer mood

It never sold because they lost the cert. But it is brand new and had been unsold since it arrived to the store. I am tempted to pick that one up instead of the newer style. I can always have it authenticated by RSC if I need an official paper. If all things being equal...which would you prefer? Hole or no hole? This is really a question for everyone.

cheers

Lug holes for me... lends a more 'tool' air to the watch.

Deep joy at the responces and pics fellas.
Its going to have to wait till after August (unless the wife decides to dip into her pin money )
I'm not really a 'brick on the wrist' sort of bloke, hence my 34mm date but the Exp. II seems to look not as big as the old subs gmt etc.
I think thats why it appeals to me so much.
