My 168000...
Just back yesterday from a servicing...My 9.7 mil 168000.
A watch with a lot of controversy... A rare reference, some say the watch was only produced for 9 months and yet there are those that say it was produced for almost two years??? My watch arrived (Based on the original paperwork) in the US in November of 1987 My watch sports a 3035 caliber movement...Yet I have talked to people who swear that they have seen them with the newer 3135 caliber??? The watch has 16800 printed on the inside of the case back with the Diamond shape STAMP...and 168000 printed between the lugs. What I love about this watch is the dial...When compared to my Matt 16800 and My Gloss, Tritium 16600, the 168000's dial seem to fall in the middle...Not Matt, but not completely gloss either...Wonderful... And my thanks to Rikki for doing a fabulous job... Cheers |

Did it go to Rolex to service?
Rolex always has a way to "clear up" any controversy! LOL Enjoy. |

What's the controversy? The case back is perfect (should be 16800 with a rugby ball, identifying different steel). Should be stamped 168000 between the lugs (likely that the last 0 looks different from the other ones). The watch was made mid 87 to mid 88 (for about 9 month, but you can call it two years). Should be cal 3035. Cal 3135 came out later (with 16610 model).

Here is my 168000. All of the Rolex books I've looked at never mention the "168000". Its almost like they are trying to forget the 000.
