Recommendations!!!?? Buying my 1st rolex! =]

Hello everyone! So I am purchasing my first rolex but I'm not 100% sure about it so I'm hoping input from you guys can facilitate my decision. At my local jeweler (Ben Bridge) they had an annual old inventory/used rolex sale. I ended up making a deposit for a used rolex which the guy told me we a better buy (than the old inventory models) since they were recently reconditioned by rolex, i am purchasing a date just with a white gold fluted bezel with Roman numerals and a blue dial, I love the watch but the only thing the watch comes with is the receipt... No box no nothing, since I don't kno too much I want to know if it is worth it to get it used even if it doesn't come with anything of those small perks? I'm saving about 30% retail price which is great considering I'm graduating college in a few months but money is not really a concern if its worth getting the new one with the perks, I'm stuck on this one...will not having these things reduce the value of the watch?? What do you guys think about it? Can't wait to hear back! Thanks! =] also I would appreciate if you guys can give me more details on the watch (background info I.e. what year it what was produced, the type of stainless steel etc) thanks everyone!! =] ill post pics soon

Since you are young, it is definitely better to purchase a new one with certificate of provenance. In the long run, that way is the better deal. I would not buy this used one

I have to defer to the experts here, but if it was just reconditioned by Rolex at a RSC, shouldn't it also come with a warranty card?

Yes...typically a 2 year warranty.

Sorry I think I might have made a mistake, I think they said it was sent back to rolex to get it serviced, if that makes a difference

If I remember correctly, Ben Bridge offers a 3 year warranty on new watches and 2 years on pre-owned. All their pre-owned have been sent to Rolex for service.

BSACC is correct. Also, I am 100% certain Ben Bridges would offer the same selling point for this watch if paperwork was included. If you never plan on selling the watch paperwork doesn't matter; as even if you were planning to sell the watch in the future, the selling point with vs. without paperwork would be minuscule. My first Rolex had no paperwork but 2 year warranty. My second was from Ben Bridges with a 3 year warranty (BNIB), my third no paperwork, no warranty, my fourth (gift) no paperwork, 1 year warranty; fifth, 2 year warranty, with paperwork. My 4th and 5th were two identical watches, from two separate sellers and the both were priced the same. IMHO, paperwork shouldn't guide a persons decision to buy a watch, warranty and condition should.

In UK all the Rolex's we have had serviced come back with a 2 year warranty card.

Whenever I have sold a Rolex, everybody really wants the Box and Definitely the original warranty cronograph certificate - it is its Birth Certificate according to Rolex
Just gone through a bloody nightmare as my warranty card says its 2002, and the case says its 1991. Just proved its made in 2001!

Personally if it had no warranty card I'd want to see it evaluated by Rolex, paperwork direct to me. i.e. sellers risk if its fake.
If it passed that then Id still want it super cheap!

Why bother there are tons of pristine boxed Certed Rolex's to buy. I've had/bought 4 [one inherited, 2 for me new and one for wife new] and I know nothing in relation to the guys on this forum. If you are like me get one new or a perfect preowned late/current models with papers.
Naturally if you know loads about these watches then by all means dabble in some of the beautiful older or vintage Rolex's

For your first, I reccomend new. It's a good feeling to know you have the complete package and you are the first owner.
Not important to some, but I prefer it.
