Considering the high price on any Rolex nowadays,is it fair that I should be worried of any imperfection on say, a Rolex dial at the time of purchase?This pieces should be perfect as they come out of the factory!I have had many other brands and have noticed defects on some of them,but these are watches with a much lower retail price.On the other hand,I've had JLC and have never noticed anything as a manufacturing defect.Rolex still is my favorite manufacturer mainly for their classic design,ruggedness and I admit that I like a watch that is recognized and appreciated under any circumstance(aka social show off).But the point is,shouldnt Rolexes be immaculate from the first day you wear them?Is this the innevitable result of monstrous mass production?Your opinions gentlemen.

You would think so but not every example will be perfect. Not a bad idea to take a loupe to verify everything is tiptop.

There will always be the odd one that slips thru QC.
If not a loupe then a pair of JJ's glasses will do the job.

i ordered a loupe so that I can carry it with me and when my wife is giving me a lecture, I keep looking at the little crown at the 6 oclock position and keep nodding my head saying "yes honey, yes honey" ....

I think you should take your loupe and take your time looking for imperfection. I bought my GMTIIc 2 weeks ago, and a week after I bought it I found out that the hands were misaligned.

Even though I spent 45 minutes in the store looking for imperfection, I never noticed the problem with the hands. I called my AD to complain and he said that he was sorry but, because the plastics had been removed from the watch he could not take the watch back. When I told him the plastics were still there he was surprised and agreed to exchange for another one. I never remove the plastics from my watches, I always allow the plastics to come off on it's own. I'm glad I did.

Your AD doesn't very customer friendly especially with an RSC there in NY - I would never buy from this AD again...

Nonetheless, often they aren't! Better inspect the dial (and whole watch for that matter) before paying a cent.

JJ uses his loupe to inspect a Rolex.

He calibrates the loupe by inspecting cleavage.

He even uses a loupe when lookinng at buying a loupe!
