turn o graph bezel does not measure time lapse

Hi folks

I bought a turn o graph watch last year from tourneau and like it a lot. However, I don't know how to use the bezel to measure the time lapse. what I mean is I can turn the bezel bi-directionally, but it stays there without measuring time lapse. Is it only for decoration?

Is it normal? I'm very sure it's not a fake one because I bought it brand new from AD with all the paperwork.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

What do you mean exactly?

The bezel is a "passive" device. You align it with the minute hand and than you can track the elapsed time on the bezel reading the minute hand on it.

Where you expecting the bezel to rotate???

What I mean is I allign the triangle marker to the minute hand on dial. For example, I want to measure 15 min, so I turn the triangle to 15. But the bezel does not move. It just stay at 15!

Put the triangle on the minute hand and then measure elapsed time from the triangle using the bezel numerals.

Ha, I see what you did.

It doesn't work that way.

Set the minute hand to the triangle and read elapsed time on the bezel.
As has been said.

I have a similar problem with my Explorer II. I keep setting the GMT hand to London time but nothing happens - I'm still in California.

Glad you got it sorted out. Enjoy your watch.

To the OP...the turn-o-graph is a great watch. The bezel can rotate in either direction making it easy to line up to your minute hand. You'll find yourself using it all the time.

Here's a little more info for you on bezels...Dive watches, like the Sub, will only rotate counter clockwise so that if the bezel is accidentally moved while one is underwater, it will show less time remaining. That's a safety precaution since one can only breathe for an exact amount of time while diving. Dive watches also click into place to secure the bezel and some will lock.

I can swear that my bezel works excellently for timing eggs!

Before dive computers divers used the navy dive tables. If you wanted 20 minutes bottom then 60 - 20 = 40. Set the bezel 40 on the minute hand. When the minute hand reaches the triangle it's time to surface and you time your ascent using the minute graduations on the bezel 0 - 20.

Now that you guys have fixed his problem, I have a bike question. Yea, it's a watch forum but this kinda fits well in this thread......

I've got this mountain bike but there isn't a mountain nearby, so will it be OK to ride it on the street?

You can breathe as long as you want, or until the supply runs out, so that's not really what you're timing. What you're timing is nitrogen loading into the tissues, and whether you decide to make the dive a mandatory decompression dive, or a non-mandatory decompression dive. You're not timing the breathing mixture supply, as that can vary on each dive due to workload, changing environmental conditions, etc.

I'd imagine a newbie probably uses his air supply at a faster rate than an experienced diver.

The bezel on James bond's sub rotates by itself, I think the battery to power the bezel on op's watch was not installed by the factory or is dead
