Shake my Rolex to gain seconds

Just for sharing and just in case you want to gain seconds:

I had a 214270 for about 5 months, I guess the movement already pretty run in or break in. However it always on the slow side, every time I timed it and it always a few seconds slow. And recently it was 4 seconds slow and it is already on the border line within COSC standard.

I always wanted my watch to be faster be it 2 to 4 seconds faster, I already lay my watch dial up (as per Rolex instruction to gain seconds) at night for the past 2 months and no improvement at all.

Frustrated and I stumbled upon this article which saved my watch:

I shake it as per instructed and within hours, my 214270 gained 2 seconds as compared to previous 4 seconds slow. I shake again before going to sleep and when I wake up the next morning it was running at +/- 1 seconds

At first I was thinking to send to RSC to regulate but never thought of shaking it will eventually saved my watch.

I think you are being really anal about a few seconds out of 86400 in a day.And by shaking your watch its possible you could do more harm than good.Its not like your life depends on one or two seconds difference a day.And in general watches do speed up as the movement beds in to wearing habits over the months.And what are you going to do if shaking your watch makes it gain to god forbid +7 second a day. .And its quite possible the shaking has nothing to do with gaining a few seconds, it could be down to simply how much power reserve the mainspring has or even the act of gravity.
