I was at a small jewerly store earlier today and they had 6-8 pre-owned Rolex watches for sale. All the watches in the case were older DJs except for a DSSD. I asked to look at it and noticed the inner clasp was polished not sandblasted. I know my SS Daytona, the 42mm Explorer and the SS Sub-C have the blasted inner and I really like the contrast. I couldnt find any pictures here on TRF or online that showed it.
Is there a breakdown on what bracelet clasps have what finish?
Just curious and even more since I couldnt find any references.

The GMT, DayJust, Daytona and Yachtmaster come with PCLs. The Sub and Explorer II have brushed. Too lazy to go through all the models. This applies to the SS models only. The TT, WG, and YG Subs all come with PCLs for instance.

It's a matter of preference. The PCLs do show scratches more though.

Not the links, the inner clasp that has the "Rolex" logo (on the newest bracelets). It is sandblasted.

You mean the folding locking mechanism? I have a TT GMT2C and that portion of the locking clasp with the logo is polished. Don't know for sure about the SS model.

If you are referring to the inner bars that fold inside (not seen when wearing the watch), those are polished on mine as well.

I think it's brushed because the center links are brushed. It looks brushed here in the pics in this for sale thread:

I think it will match whatever the center links are on whatever model.

If you really like the watch otherwise, just have that part polished.

This is the part Im talking about. My Daytona has PCL's and I know the SS Sub-C and 42mm Explorer II, which have brushed bracelets, have the sandblasted inner clasp also. My question is, does the DSSD have the sandblasted part or is it polished?

Thats what I thought. So, I dont know if I should go back to the jeweler and pass this info or not. He might be unknowingly selling a rep or maybe it was polished.

Not all clasps are identical, just like variations in dial fonts..

Precious metals using the easylink and glidelock are smooth rather than blasted. SS GMTIIc is blasted.

Don't worry broseidon, I know what you're talking about. I noticed the same thing. My Milgauss is polished (smooth) and my Explorer II has that sandpaper feel to it. I notice this stuff too.

If that's the case it must apply to the TT as well because at least one GMTIIc TT I know of has this part polished.

Man, it's getting hard to keep track of all this stuff. Sandblasted clasps, smooth clasps, ect...Being a WIS feels like work all of a sudden.
