Hey Canadians!

Just a reminder the GST dropped to 5% as of today. No more excuses, get out there and spend! Too bad they won't do anything about provincial sales tax. Death and taxes...oh and hangovers......Happy New Years

Thanks for the reminder!

Should save me a few cents on my Alka Seltzer and Aspirin.

It drops down to 4% next year!

They need to drop GST completely. The sales tax up there is still higher than what I pay in TX. And the currency difference is a killer as well. I don't mind the parity, but it sucks when everything is more expensive in Canada.

That's the price we pay for living in a welfare state. Don't get me started on the amount of income tax I pay.

Big whoop on the 1% reduction.
If you buy a car for $40,000 you save a whole $400.
Down to watches , you spend $6000 save $60
New TV $2400 save $24
That doesn't really want to make me run out & spend money.

don't forget the apparant income tax reduction that kicked in today also.
The taxes went down, but CPP & EI go up, so the average Canadian will be giving the gov't about $50 more this year than last.
