Authenticate This Rolex (as best you can) Please
Hello all,
I first want to say that I am quite glad that I stumbled upon this forum because I have had a long time infatuation with Rolexes. I have been offered a chance to secure my first rolex, but I want to ensure that it is authentic. I was hoping that you all will be able to help me out and give your best judgement as to whether this is a legit Rolex or not. I know that only a certain amount of confidence can be made from pictures, so just do your best. My seller has said that he is willing to issue a refund if I am not completely satisfied. I intend to take it to an authorized Rolex dealer, but I felt this could be a good start and could avoid more work than necessary. Here are the pictures. Thank your for your time and I look forward to participating in this community more frequently. |

As Larry indicated above, we do not engage in any discussions about fakes, let alone one elaborating on how one knows it is a fake (which would only allow the fakers to get better at their faking).

without going into detail, could you just indicate real or fake. I will then delete this post. Very much appreciate it. This is determining whether I spend multiple thousands of dollars.

Compare this fake DD to a DD at a trusted website like Rolex.com or here. You can see the differences with your own eyes.

I really don't understand the thinking behind threads of this kind... if legitimately posted.
Why do people entertain spending thousands of dollars without any familiarity with the brand, or knowing what/who is a legitimate source? I guess there are enough willing takers for all the scams out there, which scammers count on, don't they. PS: If a mod here says it's fake, it's fake. And as others note, no training session here. It's possible to learn what's good, by doing what normal shoppers do. |

Well i'll tell you what is wrong with it...!
The first thing that pops out is that hologram sticker which is not correctly alligned.. And, more important is that there should have been an engraving that said "Winner 24" !!! That would have made it really real.....

It has always amazed me how such a large majority of fake rolexes that put hologram stickers on the back can't manage to properly align the sticker. It just seems like such an easy thing to do, and these scammers f it up so frequently.

Don't understand why you have to "wait" to get your first Rolex. If you have "multiple thousands of dollars" and an internet connection, you can get one whenever you like. Story doesn't add up to me.

I am not understanding something here.. Your "seller" lets you take pics of a watch in his/her bedroom as it shows from last pic.. Kind of looks like you made the purchase and came on here to find out if it would pass as real or not... Just my sole opinion though.
However to the watch. YES, IT'S A FAKE. Just for starters.... The cyclops is a disaster, the day wheel should be in black not red (I believe for this sort of model), and the day wheel is too big to fit it the day box... Also the bracelet seems to be loose at the lug.. These are just a few of a ton of things wrong.. This one is super messy! Gotta crawl before ya ball.... However if you are actually on the hunt for an authentic one, please by all means head to an AD. Number one the sight of a day date in 18k yellow will make your heart stop... And it's around 30+ thousand dollars... So come locked and loaded. Number two, AD's sell all authentic and will be of great quality.

As for "helping the fakers get better", anyone who is producing junk like this isn't interested in getting better. If stuff this bad is selling, what's the point in changing? So ... this Day-Date is a fake because: -- the cyclops is misaligned -- the cyclops isn't magnifying -- the date wheel is misaligned -- the day wheel is misaligned -- the font on the dial is wrong

The OP has been made aware of how to further educate oneself, and can certainly begin to browse and participate as a part of that educational experience. Further commentary on the why's and how's one can tell it's a fake really don't serve us, but do potentially allow the fakers to get better at faking. The OP seemed quite interested until we made it clear we were not going to critique the watch any further than indicating it was fake, but no longer seems as interested, so perhaps it's time for a Moderator to lock this thread.
Of course, this is just my humble opinion.....

As I have stated posting the obviuos flaws does not help the fakers. They could spot their flaws if they looked - they do not care.
Pointing out such obvious flaws does help educate new comers. Is not that is what one the great things about TRF? We all started with little or no knowledge.

I definitely agree that this process helps newcomers such as myself learn a lot.
But I also think the notion that "fakers don't even wanna try to be that accurate anyway" is flawed. Fakers are absolutely trying to tweak their garbage, every damn day. They know ten things may be glaringly wrong with their garbage, but if ten people immediately say "well first of all that bezel is way wrong" then that can certainly help them prioritize their manufacturing changes. But like we love to say in New England, "it is what it is!" |
