Pretty bad ass. I wonder how the custom dial works. Rolex doesn't make these for the Saudi Royalty, do they? The crest is added by a 3rd party? Very cool regardless.

If it was gifted to you it should be worth more to you than most anybody else..
There is not a large market for such watches and they are somewhat common on ebay and the like if you are looking for values..

Well, I'm no expert, but to the average person, an old model Datejust with printing on the dial would lower the value.
As a recipient of such a special gift, that watch would be priceless to me. |

An elderly neighbor of mine was given one by the Saudi Royal family. He was the kings personal pilot for years.

These are only cool as long as the story behind them remain intact. Care to share the details?

Have to agree many around from various middle east sultans or whatever. Its normally the military sports type watches that are collectible. There are many Rolex watches with various middle east sultans insignias on the dial some of the most valuable ones are the early sports watches. It was around 1970,that Qaboos bin Said Al Said ousted his father and has ruled as sultan of Oman ever since. The British (SAS) and several Arab Nations sent well-trained forces to assist the Sultan, and the rebels were defeated. Legend has it that the Special Forces suffered heavy losses, and only 7 Special Forces Officers survived. As a token of his appreciation, Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said presented them each with a Rolex Sea Dweller ref 1665 with the Nations Coat of Arms printed on the dial in Gold. Also several Local Officers were presented with a Rolex Sea Dweller ref 1665 with the Nations Coat of Arms printed on the dial in Red. I am not sure how many of these were issued, but many middle east sultans had there coat of arms added to Rolex watches, in fact there was a special department in Rolex H/Q to oversee these matters.During the 1970s and 1980s it was not only Subs and Sea-Dwellers,they came in Presidents, Datejusts , Dates, TOG, and Airkings. Back in that era it was quite common for the Middle Eastern Kings to display their names and Family and countries Symbols all over watches, cars etc to these people money was no object
