Caesars is buried with nearly $20 billion in debt, highest in the gaming industry. This was 7 months ago and it's getting worse.

Who said casinos never lose money. Time to sell off some properties or cut the 18 million bonus the big boss gets.

Casino operator Caesars Entertainment has been fined $225k by New Jersey gaming regulators for allowing a high-roller to sexually accost staff and take illegal drugs while gambling at Caesars’ casinos in Nevada. Though the incidents occurred well beyond New Jersey’s borders, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has previously put its foot down over MGM Resorts’ doings in Macau, so this is no great jurisdictional leap. On Monday, the DGE announced that Caesars’ “failure to exercise discretion and sound judgment” could tarnish the reputation of the entire casino industry.

The gambler in question was Terrance Watanabe, a Nebraska businessman who ran up a $127m tab during an epic spree at Caesars Palace and the Rio Casino in Las Vegas in 2007. After paying up all but the last $14.7m, Watanabe sued Caesars/Harrah’s, claiming the casino had plied him with prescription painkillers, alcohol and hookers. Caesars denied it had supplied pills to anyone and the two parties eventually settled out of court in July 2010. Didn't dispute the women or alcohol though.

I just checked the rates for 2 weeks forward from now, a saturday cost over 700 bucks! Perhaps there's a convention in town?

You know, I've got a Casino story... not in Vegas, but my local; (which I frequent, hardly a whale but spend decent money there). Anyway, I am in the poker room, (which is non-smoking) and a guy comes in, lights up and starts playing a slot machine (they had just a few in the corner customers could play if they were waiting for a seat at a table). Myself and everyone else asked security to have him either stop or leave the "non-smoking" room. I won't bore everyone with the happenings, but we were informed since he was a whale, he was allowed to smoke wherever he wanted....

Really? In a designated non-smoking area? Oh I understand smoking is allowed in most areas of casinos, and I also understand whales are entitled to special privilages and benefits, but subjecting dozens of other patrons to not only an annoyance, but a certified health-hazard!? There are several areas of the casino he could smoke in, and if there was a particular machine that he desired to play in the poker room then that machine should be moved to a smoking area... problem solved. But... we were rebuffed by the Casino manager; basically told to %(@*$ off.

If you want to get me riled up, that's the way to do it. Soooooo.... about a dozen regular patrons, including myself, tore up our player cards and had them delivered to the manager. Then, we started a letter-writing campaign to the local San Diego paper.. then had the American Cancer Society send an "inquiry" to the Casino manager... Finally, we filed an incident with the police department saying we were "subjected to harm" (assault). Oh, and of course had three different attorney's send Letters of Intent to file suit, saying their clients were subjected to sickening effects of the smoke in a designated and advertised non-smoking area.

What do you know.... the slot machines were taken out of the poker room and no one has smoked in there since....

If at all possible, I try to avoid weekends. Way too many people acting like idiots. I can handle a Tuesday in July when it's too hot for most. This damn AZ heat is no different than Vegas.

I have noticed the service at all of the Caesars properties has diminished over the years.

Gee.... Now why didn't I think of that? Oh, that's right, I did... As a matter of fact several customers did and didn't get so much as a glance from this person; we were ignored.

Good Question Cru, So far he hasn't (I don't think he plays Poker). Let's hope it stays that way.

Hey, I understand whales deserve benefits, free food, hotel rooms, limo ride to and from the casino, whatever... but impacting on other customers health is what pissed me off.
