leather strap for 1601 with Rolex buckle?

Just been quoted almost £500 from my local AD for a brown leather strap for a 1972 1601.

I knew it would be somewhat richh from an AD, but was expecting somewhere nearer the £300 mark to be honest.

Can anyone point me to somewhere I might be able to source one please? Ideally croc leather.

I've had a quick scour of the classifieds on here etc, but can't find any. And always reluctant to purchase of ebay etc as I obvs want a Rolex original buckle (stainless steel, not gold btw)

Anyone?
Thanks!

Are you looking for any croc band or one made by Rolex? I would just get a high-quality croc or gator band and then source a steel Rolex buckle to go with it. You'd save a ton of money that way. You're right to be careful about the knock-off Rolex buckles sold on Ebay. Check out VRF instead. I see them on there from time to time. Good luck.

The strap itself I'm not too fussed about - high quality leather is high quality leather, regardless of who manufatures it - it's the buckle I want to be sure of.

I'll keep my eyes peeled, but if anyone is selling... cheers!

If you want a Rolex croc strap, I can't help you. I don't have any idea what would make a croc (or gator) cost almost $1,000. If you just want a very nice strap, lots of manufacturers make excellent croc straps for less than $100 and top-of-the-line alligator is about $300, while very good ones are $150-$200.

Sourcing a 50 year old strap for a 1601 could be tough, though.

just bought a black croc from rolex with buckle ... $476aud...that is about £300 and Australia is one of the dearest service centres there is....your AD is taking the piss.....

and be warned ...the Rolex straps are abysmal quality for the price...there are plenty good croc straps out there of much better quality for a fraction of the price ...i actually bought this one , because i bought one for a customer a couple months ago and it started falling apart as soon as i began fitting it.
