I was going to sell my Sea Dweller and buy a new Omega Planet Ocen 8500 (42) model.

I've decided against that and am now looking at trading my 2006 (with 2011 RSC service) Explorer II black dial for a brand new PO. I'm leaning towards the trade but would be interested in the thoughts of others?

If you have an SD and an Expl.II, I'd say you're better off as is. Would not do that trade.

The PO could be found Pre-owned to save some cash and then you'd have a Trifecta!

Not only wouldn't I make the trade, I'd give serious thought to picking up a late model 2500 PO instead of the 8500. Much thinner and a great value.

Don't do it. Omegas are great....but not a Rolex. Depreciation on Omegas is much more than a Rolex. Keep both the Rolex.

Go with what sings to you... get the watch YOU like and forget about resale value. Happiness is worth more than what a watch is worth. Omega PO is a fantastic watch. I would do it... then again, I did do it, a few months ago... and I haven't looked back...

I like Omega a lot and have quite a few in my collection...but if it was me, I would not trade either of those Rolexes away.

Agreed - much prefer the PO 2500. In fact, I am wearing it right now!

I would do it. As far as tool watches go, the PO 8500 is awesome. You can wear it on the bracelet or the Omega rubber. The accuracy is stunning, see through case back is amazing, co-axial movement is durable... I love mine. I would trade the Explorer II, not the SD. Here's my favorite pic of my PO 8500 to put ou over the edge. ;)

I agree, but these are modern watches and can be replaced (at some cost) down the road, if you change your mind, again. Seems to me that you have a good pair in the two Rolex.
