Bittersweet graduation
Here in Phoenix, we lost a Phoenix PD officer and Firefighter within six hours on Sunday morning. Today, the daughter of the officer graduated from kindergarten. This was the reception she got.
While it will never bring her dad back, it was one of the coolest things I have seen.

That poor little girl. So sad when a little kid loses a parent.

A very nice gesture for the young graduate.
That last pic brought back memories of when the neighboring town lost a firefighter in the line of duty about 20 years ago (I was there.. my first fire as a firefighter). |

Tragic. Nothing can compensate for the loss of a parent, much like nothing can compensate for the loss of a child. Touching nonetheless...

My thoughts exactly, the loss of her father must be very hard but I think that this gesture from the firefighters is very kind. Big kudos to them.

Gotta admit - holding back tears on that one was tough. It's heart-warming, as said previously, to see good people doing good things for others during difficult times. We need more of this in our world.

God bless that little girl. Godspeed to the officer and firefighter.
I've shed far too many tears at funerals for brother officers over the decades.

I hope the families of the two lost first responders can find peace soon.
Terrible twin losses on a Sunday morning.

My condolences to the family.

I love your comment of somewhat psychologically okay. I still have a very occasional night terror, funny thing is it's usually all about the smells, smells that normal people can't even begin to comprehend. Never in my life did I have dreams in which I smelled such horrible and terrible things.
