Greetings all!

I'm new here, so please go easy on me!! I need to have the crystal replaced on my P-series Sea Dweller. I was curious if they make non-Rolex crystals, and if so, would it effect the value of the watch. I was also wondering if it was replaced with a genuine crystal, would it have the etched crown on it or do they still make pre-crown etched crystals?

Only go With Rolex parts, in fact I believe if you send it to Rolex in the future they will either not work on it with an aftermarket part or force you to replace the non authentic part.

Welcome to TRF! Why would you want to put an aftermarket crystal on a $5000 watch??? It would be like putting a "Macco" paint job on a Ferrari???

Also depending on what is wrong with your watch, RSC maybe able to help you out. What is wrong with your crystal anyways? Please post some pics.

Thanks! There was a small chip on the edge. I have already taken the watch in for a replacement crystal. Should I be leary if it comes back without the crown etched on it? I only ask for piece of mind. I would never sell it. I saved up forever for it!!!!!

An authebtic Rolex replacement crystal should have the etched coronet with an "S" (service replacement) like this one.

Welcome to TRF!

If you just have your AD watch maker or RSC do the crystal exchange there is no need to worry.

An "S" marked crystal would not affect the value to any noticeable extend, IMHO.
