As much as I'm sure the new GMT is stunning. I do feel sad that Rolex has removed the orginal style from its catalogue.

Depends on how you look at it, but I consider the new Rolex watches to be PROGRESS.

It is kind of sad. I do love the older version, and may well get one at some point, a nice Coke bezel.

Well, the way you counteract that is to purchase a classic-style GMT and KEEP IT!!!

the GMT was the rolex i fell in love with as a kid; the GMT IIc is the one i bought when i finally decided i should get a rolex. one is an extension, a continuation, of the other. the GMT IIc is the watch it is because of the heritage from which it springs: the GMT.

Indeed. Rolex is known for methodical progression, not radical departure. They build upon the past, improving and embellishing on a proven theme.

Well said! Like all new products, there will be things we don't like, but progress is progress. That being said, sometimes I like the appearance of the all black bezel version of the 16710 more than my GMT IIc (I never warmed up to the pepsi or coke versions). But my GMT IIc has undeniable improvements over the 16710.

Don't worry folks, they'll bring back the GMT-II in ten years or so, when it will be "retro" and they'll charge double for it... And funny enough, we'll pay it!
