Crystal slightly uneven

Hello all.

While studying my Sub C I noticed, that the crystal might be a little uneven.

It's a very small difference, but I get the feeling that it has not been pressed down evenly, thus making it slightly unlevel.

It's less than 1 mm and you can barely see it. But when I place my finger on the edge of the crystal near the cyclop, and then run my finger along the edge, the crystaledge feels a little higher (higher meaning raised over the bezel) near the 9 o'clock position.

It can also be felt by placing a finger on the bezel at 9 o'clock and then gently moving the fingertip up over the edge and onto the crystal. There is more resistance from the crystal on the 9 side than on the 3 side.

Again, this is less than 1 mm and maybe just a har or two.

Have anyone elso noticed this? Don't even know if my AD will be alle to correct it since the difference is so small.

Thanks

Will do that. The difference is just so small that sometimes im not sure it it's just my imagniation. But will have the AD check it out soon. I found an old thread about someone who fixed this problem on his GMT2C at home with a crystalpress.

Should be flat, even height all around. Have it looked at by a professional.

Yes, get it looked at and keep it away from water until you do.

Get it checked and maybe pressure tested. I would do this sooner rather than later if it were me. Let us know how you make out.

Will have it checked out and report back here.

Are all of your watches crystaledges the EXACT same height all the way around. As mentioned it can only be felt slightly and not seen at all - it looks 100% level.

Overall, the crystal is supposed to sit higher then the bezel right?

I have mine on now and took a good look. YES, perfectly even all the way around. It sits almost perfectly inline with the bezel, I would say perhaps a half or quarter mm above it if any.

I just checked my Sub, perfectly even all the way around, and I'm a stickler for things like that. Keep us posted.

Simple answer do a pressure check if all fine then you have nothing to worry about. Most high street watchmakers jewelers could dry test to 100m plus if it passes then your watch is fine crystal is higher than the bezel. And the ceramic inserts are on 3 spring loaded ball-bearings perhaps that's why you are seeing or feeling a very very slight difference

Keep in mind that the bezel has a small amount of play in it. If you're using the bezel to determine the relative flatness of the crystal...well, it won't be flat.

If it bothers you and it's within warrantee then have it looked at.
My bezel insert was out ever so slightly, could hardly see it but it bothered me.
Had it reset to line up with arrow. Then I was happy.

Have it looked at.

Most likely this is the real cause of the problem. As I had a 14060m with that issue, it would
even make a barely audible click sound when I pushed on one side of the bezel. They just
don't make them like they used to......perfect all the time in all aspects.

So you are saying that the crystal might feel unlevel and higher on the left side, due to the fact that the bezel could sit deeper on that side?
Or maybe the bezel sits unnaturally high on the right side?

When I rotate the bezel, the crystal keeps feeling a hair higher on the left side, no matter how the bezel is set.

It could be because the bezel has one of it's "ballpoints"(?) at the 3 o clock position, thus automatically pushing the bezel a little higher and making the crystal seem lower and that side. But I don't know if the bezel system is designed like that, and if the bearings stay in one place or rotate around with the bezel.

I would notice it without a problem, it would annoy the hell out of me too. It could be the bezel but even so, it needs to be looked at, it's not right IMO.

I wouldn't muck around with a crystal press yourself. Bring it in

Well I have young eyes but I can't SEE it. I can only fell it with a fingertip when running it along the edge of the crystal. At the 9 o clock side, the crystal feels higher, but it might also be the bezel sitting lower on that side.

Anyway, is such a small difference that it can't be seen but only felt.
