Need advice... how much to repair?

I just got nick by the "6" on my beloved 233. How much would I be looking at to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Seriously, I don't see anything. Even if it's got a ding, just wear it. IT IS JUST A WATCH!

If it's a dent like it appears to be and you want it fixed, you're looking at a new case. Not cheap.

They need a Ding Masters for watches like they have for cars. For now, just wear it. Too much OCD around here!

I think he may only need a new bezel- not a complete case?

In Oz, a bezel costs about $130. To replace it however, Richemont will need to do a mini service, which is basically changing the seals and gaskets etc to ensure its watertight again. Don't expect much change from about $300.

I would probably suffer with it for a while until you are due for its major service. Get the bezel changed then- in the meantime you will likely get a few more dings and dents etc

I agree, wait for it's service then get the bezel replaced, they do tend to pick up dinks all the time, they seem to be the easiest place to get marked. When i send a watch for a service i expect it to need a new bezel, i think of them almost as a disposable item unless you're trying to build up the wabi on the watch

Hey!

I agree with everyone's comments; I too am very OCD when it comes to my Panerai 177 and get irritated when there is a spec of dust on it let alone a ding :p

It too me months to frame my mind in this way; but, take this perspective: all of our watches, from timex to a $500,000 Patek, are 10% vulnerable and exposed when we wear them. I generally find that the more careful I am, the more paranoid I get and the higher likelihood that I will blemish it.

I do not own a watch that this pristine. I am that watch guy who wants to have that "special" watch that comes out on special occasions. However, it seems that my Rolex GMT and Panerai get 40%/40% of wrist time and the daily beaters get neglected. Thus, both of these watches have their share of 'love-taps'.

I sincerely appreciate how you feel, but if I may say, this is a sign of your appreciation and love for the watch because you love to wear it. It marks your ownership and adds character. Trust me, it took me months to realize that what I am saying to you is true.

I hope my story and advice helps you. Please don't be one of those guys who is afraid to wear his amazing PAM :)

All the best! You have an amazing Panerai :)

Well said Nathan! I too was "paranoid" of wearing my 320 after getting it serviced and polished. Then I realized that if I remained that way I may never get to really appreciate my beautiful timepiece. I just don't wear it when I'm working in the yard or doing something athletic! I have a Nixon Magnacon for that. Really special occasions I break out my 26k :)

I don't even see anything? Any better picture from the side maybe showing the dent? (if it is in fact a dent).

I always think panerai as a tool watch. Just wear it! scratches and dings will give it more character :)

I just discovered a small dent in my 233 bezel also. It's the first mark on the watch other than hairlines. I immediately went into panic mode just as you did but after several hours I'm fine with it. Now I can wear it and enjoy it instead of constantly worrying about it.

It is my understanding that the bezel and case are a single piece. Perhaps others can confirm this though.

Definitely not a single piece. The service center said around $300 to replace the bezel.

Call Chatel in California. A 112 bezel cost me $130. Catel is an AD and authorized service center.

A 1950 bezel should cost no more than $250. Call Chatel in Carmel by the Sea, California. It's an AD and authorized service center for OP.

I agree with the just wear it and enjoy the distressed look. My B&R Carbon Black picked up a bit of wear!

It's not a car; the dings, scuffs, and patina mark your history with the watch and add character.
