All of those are nice enough places - you should be fine.

Just be wary of pick pockets in Barca/Nice/Marseille and you should be fine.

Take them if you will enjoy them. If you are going to worry about them, leave them home. I'd probably take one, and take a Timex or cheap piece for sight seeing.

I was thinking swimming, beach, etc. I had the same dilemma when I went to Puerto Rico over the holidays. iPhones are not very waterproof. Trust me on that one...

Be wary, had trouble in Barca and Rome, where robbers dressed as policemen in a police car stopped me, so I wouldn't wear a nice watch if I looked like a tourist.

Barcelona is a nice place but i would not say no worries...
& marseille was 1 of the 2 worst places i have seen along the mediterranean coast (on a bicycle ride that went from la spezia italy to barcelona ) regarding crime & a sense of not being safe. The other place that was even more of a concern was Genoa....A large city built around shipping , will likely have a nefarious transient element to consider.

They asked for my passport and to see my wallet and ID. I told them I had no passport, I did, and I had only ten bucks in my wallet so I showed them and they returned it. At the time I thought it was suspicious but they were obviously very convincing and I was a young, pretty well built guy back then so I wouldn't be a normal or easy target either. Being a foreigner I couldn't flat out refuse and it was also all in plain sight in a tourist area. I went to a police station after and was told they were well known robbers. If they are that cunning then tourists don't really stand much chance so I wont wear anything expensive dressed as a tourist anymore.

I always take my watches on my summer holidays. You do need to be relatively careful in France but presumably if you're on a cruise then any watches that you're not wearing will be in your cabin safe.

I don't see the point in working hard in between holidays and then not taking a few toys away while you relax in the sun.

Take them of course but always be careful. The stories about thieves dressed up as police are 100% true so be careful. Also Marseille, not that great with security.

Absolutely not... AP's are meant to be treated like a baby and locked up in your safe.

Not! LOL

Enjoy the trip and were the hell out of your AP. Just be smart if going into a dark alley or something.
