Can't believe nobody has suggested this yet, but if you've got $10k to spend, and you don't want a Daytona, JLC, or AP (not that you'll find even a used AP chrono in the 10k range), then the Omega POC 9300 Liquidmetal is my top recommendation to you. Simply sublime for the price.

If only....
It wasn't 45.5 mm x 19.2 mm (that's right, 1.5 mm thicker than even a Sea Dweller!).

As I am seriously looking at the small independent watch company Habring2.
I would go with either the Doppel 2, if can find one or its replacement the Doppel 3. Though I now understand, if you order one now, delivery is not until 2014. I hope that the link below works! http://www.watchesbysjx.com/2013/04/...ttrapante.html

If I had 10K, I would buy a used 18238, probably late 90's.

For me: Omega!
I'd go with the 9300 movement in either the PO or the Speedy.
Daytona in stainless would be another fine option. Just MHO. |

Mont Blanc Rieussec - it's a stunner
I'd go for the Mont Blanc Rieussec every time.
There's a really nice write-up on it in a recent issue of Watchtime priasing the stunning accuracy fo the movement. I like the fact that it's different and the layout of the movement looks wonderful from the back giving pride of place to the column wheel. Itr's definately on my wish list.

I'm pretty biased toward vintage zenith, but I'd recommend spending your $10k on one of these:
Then spend what's left over on one of these: :) |

I understand and I would say the same about Breitling and Omega I know there are quite a few Omega fans on this site but I can't stand the brand IMO they became way too expensive

Just received my Omega Speedmaster Moon Phase. Until I can find a Lange 1815 Chrono that is within my reach.

Get a Vacheron Constantin Overseas chrono! You can find them "like new" under 10k on the bay!

My choice would be Paul Pluta's favorite watch: the Omega Speedmaster Professional (man on the moon) with manual wind movement 321, 861 or 1861. Steer clear of the crummy Omega imitation with the mediocre automatic movement.
Not only will you get a great watch, but you can pocket the $6500 left over. Internet Image: |

I really like the new 1969 Zenith El Primero with boxy case. Very unique and distinct.

Btw you can get the above in stainless less than $10k. Never gave it a second look but it's stunning.
