AD Discount on SS Sub
Hi guys,
What discount can I realistically ask for and expect from an AD for a SS Sub? I have a relationship with them and purchased my SS GMT IIc there a while back, but I'm looking for guidelines before I go in and ask... Thanks!

I don't have a crystal ball. No one here does. Go in and ask.

Bay Area AD? Hmm, I never received discount from them on ss watches. Well things may change, maybe 5-10%? Good luck with your purchase.

Discounts on SS sporty Rolex models are very rare (if ever given) but provided that the AD really likes you I think you could possibly get a 5% off. I'd be very surprised if you could get more though.

The Bay Area is choked with wealthy tourists...
The SS Sub is the most popular Rolex around. Why would an AD need to discount? If you did get a 5% discount you will pay 8.75% sales tax. Here is the first SS Sub I found tonight by searching on TRF: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=300658 Pretty good deal from a reputable seller. Hows that grab ya? |

Here's an even better deal.
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=301589 If you really want the AD experience, go in and ask what they can do for you. If you value your money, a trusted seller will keep it in your pocket.

5% was the best my AD could do and I bought 2 other time pieces from them. I was told that Rolex "inspects" their invoices or books to make sure they are not discounting any more than Rolex authorizes on certain models.
Now I ask the pros here...is that true? Can or does Rolex look at an AD's books? If I were a dealer and Rolex said "let's see the books" I'd throw them and their watches out the front door. |

Yup. The AD experience consisting of a free bottled water - maybe. Most Bay Area ADs don't even have a place for you to sit down. SRO. So no bottled water either!

Try a search about Canadian AD's here and you will find that they average 20-25% discount on Subs even the SS. Well, does not mean Rolex has to shut down ALL Canadian Ad's now? |

I paid $6200 out the door for my Sub C. That was before a price increase and then the greedy Rolex higher ups decided to decrease the dealer margins, so that price is probably long gone.

I believe that I got around 6% on my 14060M last summer from my AD, covered the sales tax.

When the msrp on my GMTIIC was 7000.00, I paid 6301.01 out the door, a 15% discount. I also got 1year interest free financing. I had visited the AD about once a month on my lunch break and was drooling over the YG Green dial GMTIIC. Unfortunately, the cost was out of reach for me. Even though i did not think i needed another ss watch, I feel in love with the SS GMTIIC. One day I called the AD and spoke to the salesperson i regularly visited and made an offer. I received a call within 45 mins accepting my offer.
I got my 15% and was happy. Best of luck.

Skip the 'free' bottled water and call up DavidSW and get a BNIB Sub with your name on card (I did). The amount you save is amazing.

Look guys, I love the idea of a "BNIB" Rolex for less money, but not everyone wants to wire a stranger money, and a lot of people want their name on the warranty papers, which most likely won't be the case. Suggesting someone buy from a "trusted seller" 10 times in the same thread isn't helping a whole lot.

I think it will be very difficult to get a discount depending on where you live in the area. Silicon Valley/Bay Area is an expensive location to have a store and there are a lot of people here with money. If you wanted something less popular than a SS sub I could see getting maybe enough to cover the tax. On a SS sub I don't think the dealers will have any problem selling them for full price.

If folks are so fixated on saving money, then step up and wire thousands of $ to a stranger - aka a reputable seller on TRF. Save MASSIVE amounts of money, get your name on the warranty card and then start 10 more threads about average % DISCOUNTS!!! |
