rolex tv ads
I am totally sick of the ads suggesting that the watch has seen/witnessed events in major sporting competitions. I also suggest that none of the sports people had to buy a watch!!!!
Anyone with me on this? |

Apparently I do not watch anything where Rolex advertises. Guess I am the wrong demographic for them and I do not have the problem you seem to have.

Funny you mention it because the same thought occurred to me last week. Didn't really bother me but I know what you mean.

No matter if it was provided free. Remember Rolex was provided free to Mercedes for the swim and to the Everest expedition. Rolex makes history. |

They often play on ESPN during Rolex sponsored events, such as Wimbledon.

Haven't seen any. I don't watch much tv anyway so doesn't bother me. We all know rolex has a massive ad budget so they have to spend it somewhere right.

First post and you want to bash Rolex ads and the sports figures who promote them ?? And so sports figures who have been contracted to promote their products get free stuff - That's true for any product !! Their name and talent is the whole reason they are sought out for product promotions - it's also likely the reason why they excel at their sport and turned pro... like the NASCAR Drivers who "drink" Mountain Dew... Perhaps you should have typed your rant in green..

i do think that their printed ads are very good and mostly always have been. Also I think their choice of 'ambassadors' through the years has been excellent - Federer for example , Tony Jacklin and Seve in the past...

I have a totally different slant...I like that Rolex buys so many ads during the races and other sports events I watch.
Ads are going to be shown during the events anyway. Saves me from seeing 10 stupid ads for Adult Diapers, Saw Palmetto, Fat Pills, Pay Day Loans, etc... At least I get to see nice watches

I actually respect those athletes much. I also have great respect for the watch! I am not a TV head and do not care for TV commercials in general. I like to catch a glimpse of the Rolex though, especially during Golf programs.

The ads don't really summarize the whole new Rolex experience: from the moment you first begin to negotiate a purchase with the sarcastic half-wit at the AD, to the moment your ex claims it at full list price during the divorce proceedings and you have to buy it back a second time, up until the moment the coroner slips it off your corpse to give it to your ungrateful brother-in-law, I think my television ad might be a shade different. Perhaps that's a good thing.

Wow. No one can help it that Rolex has been part of golf tennis and racing for the last 60 years or so.
First post could have been new Vs vintage. Why don't we see Rolex movements in Tudor? Or which is better white or black dial Daytona. You there are important issues out there. Lol. |

Well Bubba Watson wears a $525,000 Richard Mille. I am not certain if he paid for it or not but I do not believe he did. But I bet that Phil paid for his Cellini! (could be wrong again..)
Do I think less of Bubba or that watch brand or golf? Of course not. It adds to the cool factor of that sport. In what other sport do you see the 'athletes' sporting their timepieces while in play? |

Funny you mention Rolex and "no major sporting events" right after Phil Mickelson wins his 5th major.
