That is really great to hear and congrats on meeting a living legend.

And if he's anything like our British SAS guys, I bet he is a humble man. What these people do to keep us safe is incredible, and yet they are so low key. Nice post.

Wow. Not just the Medal Of Honor. Look at the decorations that this Hero has... Amazing. Silver Star. Three Bronze Stars with V for Valor. Purple Heart.

Excuse my ignorance but I had to google the name, being from the UK...........was I stunned!!!! He's the guy films are made of, I would have kept the man talking all night, and not about watches.

Get him, wrong phrase knowing his history, ask him very politely, to join the forum, it's the only chance of me getting into the same club! The only thing I have in common is "Rolex"

That was the best part, we drank all night! His OPSEC was quite tight. He did have opinions on certain political matters. He has briefed every president since Johnson.

There are only 78 living MOH recipients left and most are over 60 so for him to accept my invite to dinner was awesome.

I work at the VA and he was there to give a morale talk. He could have declined me as his luggage was lost and he had another meeting the next day, but, he came out and had a good time and even offered to come out again whenever he back to Wisconsin.

Thanks for sharing. What an experience it must have been talking to him. On a somewhat lesser scale, I remember as a young naval officer having the chance to talk to a Pearl Harbor survivor, and being simply awed by what I heard.
