Chrono timer hand

As a daily wearing watch, if stop the timer hand like this Daytona for long time, say maybe 1 year or even longer, is it harmful for the movement then?

I sometimes set my chrono hand on my Speedmaster to certain hours or minutes as a reminder. No issues at all.

Just whats the point just reset it that whats what the reset button is for but will do no harm. Now if the chronograph was kept going continually its possible power reserve while off wrist would be a few hours shorter.But just cannot see the point of running the chrono feature whet its not needed to time something.But if the timing feature is not used its best just to use it for a short time say once a month just to exercise the movement .

the conclusion is:
1.) No harm for the movement.
2.) Use the timing feature regularly.

Now onto the collateral question for the OP...

If you leave the chrono hands wherever your last timed event finished - are you then forgetting to screw down the pushers?

That would be more risky behavior if you're prone to jumping into the deep end of the pool wearing your Daytona.

That's what I was thinking. I've only handled a Daytona, but I thought it reset when you screwed down the timer buttons?

No, they screw down to make contact with the case and seal off the opening to the O ring gaskets. You can do that without resetting the Chrono hands.

The screw down on the Daytona are only there to stop you activating the chrono function if not needed they have nothing to do with the seals.As even if fully unscrewed the watch is still water resistant and have been tested to 30m underwater unscrewed but not pushed.

Left to right, HEV, Chrono pushers like on Daytona Tudor range,Twin Lock,Triplock.

Yep. That's why I asked. Not safe to dive in with the pushers undone. Bumps and things can depress one or other pusher.
