First AP and First Post

Hi All, this is Andy from Austin, Texas.

Firstly, I have been lurking on the forum for a while, hoovering up all the great AP advice on here - so a big thank you.

I have been a watch guy all my life, since my mom bought me my first Timex, a diver style watch from a Post Office (I am a Brit) in the UK when I was five years old - I found that watch in a junk drawer when I was moving to Austin 7 years ago, wound it up and it worked perfectly! My son now wears it.

I had always been a Rolex guy and bought my first one, an Air King 25 years ago and then traded that for a grey dial DJ and that for a GMT and finally that for a SS black faced Daytona, which I still have.

Back in 2008, I purchased a SS PAM 233, which I wore a lot but never really connected with it and have always loved the look of the AP ROO RG models. I tried on both the 42mm and the new 44mm models and on my wrist just preferred the size, symmetry and look of the 42mm model.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I had read great reviews of David SW and he had a 2012 AP ROO RG 42 for sale. He was great to deal with, gave me a fair price to swap the PAM 233 and I am now the proud owner of my first AP.

I will post up some pics of my modest collection too.

Thanks for reading.

Andy

Thanks BZA.

Looking at all the black faced watches together, I think I will have to get one with a silver or white face next for a bit of contrast.

I hear ya Takuya but something had to go to finance the AP. Only the PAM or the Daytona were worth more than a few dollars and a inheritance from my late grandfather (who was a watch nut too) allowed me to buy the Daytona back in 2004 so has some real sentimental value.

The watch is a beauty! We have a lot in common - I just picked up my first AP several days ago and we're both from Austin!

Thanks guys - glad to be on the forum and really enjoy reading all the great posts and chat that goes on.

Conkers - I do worry for my wallet being on this forum...may be I should quickly fill those remaining watch box slots with a few Swatches and Fossils.

Very nice!!

I had the exactly same AP, after that a carbon J Trulli ltd., and now AP RO 26022 in rosegold. The offshore is too big for me, but looks good by you.
