I was 50 when I bought my DJ & 52 when I bought my Sub.. Don't wait, go for it before you become too old to enjoy it.

Here's the link to my story but in a nutshell I waited about 40 years until I purchased my Rolex!

What age would one stop enjoying a Rolex?

I agree that earlier seems better, but often we appreciate more the things we wait for.

Anyway, forty does seem like a good age, as long as other things are squared away.

Maybe he meant at the old age when alzheimer's kicks in or dementia starts creeping in. I mean it is harsh but it is a reality check for ALL of us humans as we reach our peak.

That is why I followed the advice of other people in another thread and wore my Rolex right now at work.

Thanks to all for the well wishes!

To answer a few questions, I'd like to get a Sub or Seadweller.

I am currently near Portland, OR. There is a fantastic shop on 10th and Morrison, Watch Works. I've visited there keeping the dream alive and have directed many people there that have turned into return cusotmers. A good freind of mine even had me come along to help him buy the engagement ring for his girlfreind.

My current cousin watch is my Tudor Chrono, but I'll be selling it to contribute to my quest.

This website is such a fantastic place to visit and always helps to take my mind of daily stress. Great place to escape!

How many of you have put it off like me and kept buying and trying out other watches until it finally hit you?

I'm looking forward to actively participating in such a fun forum with real enthusiasts!

You deserve it buddy! Do it for yourself and the watch can be passed on to the future generation!

Good luck and enjoy the hunt! Hopefully your AD will give a great deal on something. My advice is to go with your gut. I was 41 when I bought my first. I too, wish I skipped some of the other watches I purchased in prior years, but it was a journey of information that brought me here.

I agree with this quote. I started buying Rolex sport models when I turned 46 years old, and I smile every time I look down to check the time on my wrist...

Citjet, my story is similar to yours. I've been buying and selling a lot of watches over the years. I second your thoughts on Watchworks - Alex and his staff are good people. I've got to sell some more "B" and "C" list watches in order to finance another Rolex purchase.

I vote SD with LUG HOLES, never go wrong with that sexy beast of a watch, and bracelet changes are a snap, just use a toothpick.

Hey I'm in the Portland area too. Alex watchworks isn't a bad place at all. A little over priced, but nice that they do an overhaul on all their pre owned rolex watches. I would recommend looking around here on the forums. There is also a little shop in sellwood called Johnson Jewelers and Craig Johnson has sold me three preowned rolex watches. Passed two on but still have my dweller from him. Good luck

Life is too short not to be wearing a Rolex or Tudor or the brand of watch that you like. Go out there and get the watch that you want and wear it in the best of health.

Age is just a number to count.

Get what you want, when you want it.

Life is long.

There's the key. I often wonder if some aren't falling to peer pressure or keeping up with the K7's....or Jones. Only you can decide if it's the right time and you'll know, in your heart, if it is or isn't.

All system go? Go for it.

My first at 45 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and 21 years in my own business :-)

Couldn't really afford the Rolex I wanted at 40 so I got a Raymond Weil and I am glad I waited because I ended up with a completely different Rolex to what I originally would have bought.

That's an amazing story. Congrats again and thank you for all your years of service. That is a lot to be proud of. I hope when I retire, I have a proud story to share as well.
