I can understand when grey dealers want to sell Rolex timepieces like the BLNR or SS YM2 for more than MSRP during the first couple of months since it's a new Basel release and it's all about supply and demand....but why would you sell a 116610 & 116710 for more than MSRP?

I am not able to understand the reasoning behind these models....can anyone fill me in?

Call Brad 714-998-1867 and ask what he'll take. They deal - so the asking price is never the final price...

But I do get your point.

I've done a couple of deals with him in the past and got him down to a good price point each time.

Paul, I am not in the market for one....I'll buy them here from trusted sellers without a doubt and get great deals....I was just surveying the net to see what's out there and was surprised to see above MSRP prices

Most of those high eBay prices are reflecting seller greed. I've made reasonable offers on some and have not been able to close a deal yet.

With eBay and PayPal fees most sellers have to add almost 10% to their base cost just to break even...

You are doing the right thing - I did my deals with Brad outside of eBay.

This. I occasionally list watches for sale both on eBay and on the watch forums, and I ask more on eBay to cover the additional eBay fees.

If you search completed auctions you will see very few Rolex watches are sold actually on ebay. They are shown on ebay and deals are closed off ebay avoiding the fees.

Have to agree same for many selling watch parts like inserts and asking crazy prices, but some are willing to pay these crazy prices so the buyers are mostly to blame..

If buyers are paying the prices being asked then the prices obviously aren't 'crazy'.

It's a free market economy and demand and supply is just playing out.

I think they have to add 25% Ebay 10% PayPal 4% plus Shipping and Insurance

What happens is that an individual who sells a watch can not ask the same price as a recognized vendor. Besides an individual has no references. This is my case. All the watches new, unworn, I had and I have always end up selling them to a reseller.

The other problem with E-Bay is you can not find out what the best offer was. The comment about fees is totally correct.

Same I've made very good offers on various watches and always denied. Few weeks ago someone had a used Heuer for $1100 I offered $800 and was denied

I think most sellers just use ebay as a marketing tactic. If you read the description most of the time they list their phone number to their brick and mortar store. I would bet that if you called, they would work with you. They have to increase the price on ebay to offset pay pal and listing fees. Plus most ship next day insured for no additional charge.

No - Fees are nothing like that. PayPal is 3-4%, eBay is 5-7%. There is no set % for shipping/insurance - some charge an amount ranging from $35-$100; others just wrap it into their cost model and offer "Free Shipping".

It's a good idea to check your facts before telling someone they are wrong - the fees are 11% for watches on eBay UK and I believe 9% on eBay USA.

The fees I quoted are the ones I've paid for sales made over past year. Can't comment on UK fees.

Anyone can check eBay fees using their calculator if interested. As the price gets lower, the final value fee actually is a higher %.

That's because there is a cap on the maximum fee.

It is around 10% or £40 - whichever is lower in the UK.

I imagine around the same in the USA.

I'm assuming your sales have been over $500 to cause lower % fees.

Well yes, of course they are above $500...we are discussing Rolexes being sold...

A $20,000 sale comes out to $250 in US for fixed price.
A $2,000 sale comes out at $160.

My sales range between $2000-$7000 on eBay. And never had more than a 7% on a watch...

In no way is the eBay fee near the 25% I was correcting earlier.

I'm totally confused on the ebay fees in the USA. I've been told for years that it is around 12% which includes the listing fee, selling fee and paypal fee. Then I've heard 8% total.

So, if a $5,000 watch is sold on ebay, what will it cost the seller to include paypal fees?

Yes 3-4% Paypal goes on top of that. Which is the reason I say most sellers on the Bay add 10% for fees.

The seller in the OP's links to eBay are trusted sellers on this sight and have worked great deals with me in the past on BNIB Rolex watches.

They will deal and make a good deal for all involved. eBay is a different animal, so if you do your research and work outside of that box...you will find the deal you are looking for!
