DJII or New No Date Submariner - can I live without bling

First Rolex. Like the DJII, but I like cleaner watches so I am leaning away from the white gold fluted bezel. Wife and son say it looks styling, I tell them the aesthetics of a perfect watch dont need gold. Black or Blue.

What do people think? on the DJII does the white gold bezel add too much bling for a 40s business guy?

Also, then looked at new No Date Submariner with new dial. Thought at first did not want dive watch, but then saw how elegant it is. Is this a viable choice, especially for using for dress events?

Thoughts please, on

1. DJII with plain steel bezel or white gold fluted.

2. should i give hard look to new no date SUB, or are these apples and oranges.

I like the lines on the DJII, I know its plain, but have several dive watches.

THANKS

TK Houston, Texas

Regardless of what James Bond (don't get me started) got away with- I don't think dive watches should be warn as dress. Though arguable the ceramic reinventions do lend themselves far more.
I love both the new sub and ss dj2 smooth bezel- I've had both

The glitterball wg bezel put me off too.....

Considering you have divers already- I'd get the dj2
Clearly resale isn't so good- but if your a keeper no worries

It's a very pleasing case shape too - more so than the sub I think.

Welcome to TRF!

I agree that in general for business wear (suit) a DJ2 is a better choice than a diver. The size of the DJ2 makes it a perfect alternative with the same robust movement. I like the plain bezel, but which ever one that speaks to you should be your pick. Good luck and post some pics when you get it.

Get the one you like best - a watch is a just a small accessory to most people, so they won't pay much heed to make and model. As long as you're presentable in business attire, just about any watch will pass, IMO.

DJ II smooth bezel. Any dial is great really. Blue Roman numerals being my favorite.

Welcome to TRF simple answer try both on then choose the one you like the most.If you want to think ahead of the watch keeping more of its original value the the DJ11 is not the best choice over the sports range like the subs .

Bought from a forum seller awaiting a new 2013 model Sub C with date. Like the complication and always forget the day, as I think sometimes I am Homer Simpson incarnate ....Doooooh!

Thanks for welcome and advice. Watch arrives this week.

If you,re going for a one watch lifestyle...then what kind of person are you? Are you more often found in gabardines or jeans?
