Wolf watch winder for my GMT?? Fit question?
Looking at a wolf watch winder model 2.1. Was wondering the size of the pillow that holds the watch? The one picture I found it looks very big. My watch has 2 links out of it and not sure I want it squeezing the pillow to death and stretching band? Anyone have any thoughts on this???
Thank You |

I have wolf winders (although having been using them the last little while) and I find their pillows poorly designed. I wish they make softer pillows but they do have the smaller sized ones so make sure you ask for that. Even with the smaller pillows I still find my them stretching my watches (small wrist ) so what I do is wrap elastic bands around the pillows to compress them smaller even.

I've had my winders for 3 years and found that while taking awhile the pillows eventually settled in and work nicely. In all fairness I think I only have one link out, maybe two...
You can definitely get the smaller pillows from them.. |

Will the pillows in a winder really cause the bracelet to stretch?

What does happen is some folks try to lock their clasp around the pillow. This can cause stress or bending by the physical force applied by you. You should always compress the pillow and insert it into the watch, not clamp the watch around the pillow..

I would say no. If you have average or larger sized wrists then the watches should be fine. However for those with smaller wrists then the fit will be that much tighter over the cuffs. These (wolf design) cuffs are not those soft pillow types.

Good info. Thanks.
I always heard that band "stretch" was really wear in the links when debris, sweat, and other stuff caused abrasion over time.

And for those with straps - yes the stress on the leather at the springbar can cause elongation problems. For mine with regular tang buckles, I don't buckle the strap at all - just use an elastic band to wrap around the watch and pillow. For the OP - you won't have problems if you follow Larry's advice...
