different crown on dssd?

Anyone notice some dssd's have a different crown logo (below 12 oclock)?
Most have all very different lengths of spikes on the top of the crown but one for sale from canada has the top of the spikes in a nice curve and almost the same length.
Could it be a fake or did i discover a flaw in some dssd dials?

I recall that there were a couple of subtle differences on the dials of this model. Why? Perhaps some can enlighten.

i just checked the dials on a whole bunch of dssd's from 2008 to 2013 and it seems to be random and not a sign of fakes.
Why would rolex put very different versions of these crowns in this day and age?
I know it was common in the distant past but nowadays with computerized etching and printing on the dials?

I believe the first few runs of the DSSD had a different Cornet, V Serial & M Serial had the same, after that they chaged slightly.

Here is an M Serial 2008



The G Serial DSSD's seem to have a cornet logo more similar to the Submariner, and GMTIIC.

so i guess you could say there are markI and markII dial versions on the dssd.

i wonder if rolex did this on purpose to add value in the distant future like the double reds

The last thing Rolex cares about on this planet or the next is future values.

If you send them a DRSD or red dial Sub, they will replace those dials with service parts and chuck the rare dials. They don't care one bit

There are 3 dial changes on the DSSD. Mk1, Mk2 and current the MK3.
The text font is also different on all 3 types.

As always, Rolex tend to make very subtle changes every 2yrs or so to try and keep the counterfeits at bay.

On Rolex watches over the past 50 odd years have had hundreds of tiny font cosmetic changes on most all of the Rolex line up.But with today's 10% lupe mad WIS types these very tiny differences have been noticed.Now the other 90% of Rolex watch buyers would doubt if they would even notice or care.

And forums like this one cater for the 10% of us that do notice.
Knowledge of these little variations helps greatly in identifying fakes and Frankenwatches.
They make this hobby interesting.
