Was my request valid? DD Purchase

Guys,

I PM'd a forum member here about purchasing a DD he has for sale. I asked for photos of bracelet stretch be emailed to me. He responds with are you a definite buyer I would hate to waste my time. I feel as though if you're selling pre owned DD one of the first details I would reveal in the description and supplement with photos would be of the bracelet condition. What do you think?

Seems like a less than ideal way to begin business?

Exactly my thoughts. I understand people not wanting tire kickers, but being in business myself there are no guarantees.

If this guy wants to sell a used watch, sending pics to prospective buyers is going to be part of the process. Methinks he is being lazy.

Of course it was a valid request. If that was his response, I'd thank him and look elsewhere...

As a seller you have to be willing to provide reasonable information so that an informed decision can be made. Your request is certainly reasonable. Look elsewhere.

I don't see anything to indicate that your request was unreasonable.

Reminds of the time I went to a car dealer and wanted to test-drive a car. The idiot 'sales' guy asked if I was going to buy it or was just looking. When I said I was just looking he handed me the keys and sent me to some far off lot to find the car myself.

My point? It's been ten years and I've never been back to that dealer again.

I would not feel comfortable buying from this person at this point.

Wow that wasn't unreasonable at all. If I was buying a preowned Rolex. Looking at the bracelet condition is one of the first thing I look for.

Just look elsewhere. He just lost your potential business.

No matter what the odds may have been, it's what we do in Sales. He should just provide the pix to anyone who asks (hey, why not just post with the listing?), knowing that not everyone turns into a buyer.

If that was his response as the other members have indicated move on to another seller... Ridiculous response...

I have datejust on the FS section right now, I forgot to upload pics of the stretch, so I was asked via pvt message and I obliged, as a seller one should never ask if you are a serious buyer regardless of the inquiry.

Looks like the seller is questioning your integrity even before the sale which indicates that there would be no support after the sale.
Pass and find a better seller.
As we know the good sellers on this Forum will bend over backwards to satisfy a request.

You and I may be after the same watch.
And I am having a similar experience, he even refuses to give me his name.

Some people......

I would think those pics would be included in the original for sale post, even without being specifically asked.

Very normal request, this is a major concern with gold bands.

Don't waste your time or money with a seller who's going to start off like that.

Move on as (I don't know about anyone else but) I wouldn't contact any seller either on the internet or in a shop unless I had the intention and the funds to purchase.

There are plenty of others who are happy to give you a good buying experience and if it was me I would never buy anything from that seller.

Agreed. I'm moving on..very unusual for this forum this seller is certainly in the minority in regards to customer service.

"are you a definite buyer" - how rude and unprofessional.

Answer: "possibly, but definitely not from you, mate."

Walk away.
