Trade 16610 for 114060?
Hello all, I've only just got my 16610 and was after one for quite some time, but I have been playing with the glidelock clasp on my friends DSSD and really love it. I like the cyclops on my 16610 but can live without the date so my attention has been drawn to the 116610, I really like it, it did take me a while to get used to the oversize lugs but now I think they look alright. My question is this: what would I be looking at for a trade/part exchange for my mint M series 16610 box, no papers for a 114060, and would I be crazy to do this?
Any advice appreciated, cheers. Sent from my iPhone

As much as I love the 114060 I would never sell my 16610 sub. That's the problem with rolex for me I just can't bring myself to sell either one to get another. I'll just save till I get more cash for the next one that I want.

Ever since I acquired my 116610LV, I've thought about that exact trade. I just have a hard time selling a discontinued Rolex, especially a 16610 which is an awesome piece and still my go to everyday wearer. I will still probably get the 114060, but will not sell a watch for it.

I'm one of the biggest advocates for the 114060 and I love mine. However, you have a classic there and I wouldn't trade away the 16610 for it. BUT you have to do what your heart tells you. In the end, they are just watches and there are plenty available if you change your mind.

I wouldn't do it. The 16610 is classic.

Thanks for the advice guys, if I could justify having both I would just buy the 114060, but with a ten week old son there are more important things to spend that kind of money on. Do you think I'll have to front up any cash to make the trade?

That wouldn't be that bad of a trade! I would do it. But isn't the Glidelock on the DSSD a little different than the SubC? You might want to check it out first.

Yeah I think it's a little different but still solid, which is what I like, plus I swell up in the heat so a quick adjustment would be a bonus

Yes. 2 different set ups. But basically the same inside adjustment. The sub has to be taken off to adjust while the DS can be adjusted from the outside.

If your 16610 isn't singing to you anymore and you really have no history with it then why not. I couldn't do it as I love the "old style" bracelet, clasp and lugs but that's just me.

I love the lugs on the older one, and the SEL is vast improvement on the older 93150 bracelet (probably only in perception as the old one was just as strong and reliable). But the newer solid centre links and more solid clasp makes the newer subs bracelets more in keeping with the price tag. Just my opinion. My old 2531.80 seamaster's bracelet felt more in line with the price tag of the watch and that was a quarter the price of the 16610.
I'm not undermining the heavy oyster bracelet on the older subs as time and many years of use without failure have forged it as a true performer. I just think that it should have more 'substance' for the price. Sent from my iPhone

Lots of old Subs out there. Trade to get what you want. The older I get the less I like the Cyclops

You'll definitely be ponying up some cash to make the jump to the 114060. I'd imagine you'd have to drop at least a grand or two, USD.

I have looked on the forums and there are a few 114060 owners that have traded in for a 16610 with little or no financial recompense, thought I may get lucky lol. I am just speculating about a trade, would need more time to consider, was just seeing what everyone else thought.

I'm biased towards the 16610.
