Would being on a strap make a watch more difficult to steal? Stories like this is why I wear a seiko when traveling out of the United States. Sorry about your watch.

Sucks! I had a Sub stolen in 09' and found in a pawn shop in PDX, had to buy the stupid thing back and take the people to court, won (obviously) and awarded restitution. I didn't see a dime till magically this year some small amounts started coming in... It may turn up or may not, worst feeling ever though, took 4 months to find mine :( Hopefully they find your quicker

wow, that stinks!

i just came back from BA on the 13th, I stayed in Palermo as well,

sorry to chime in this way but, I actually forgot this until i read your thread, i guess i put it out of my head...I did have a moment of concern during a midnight dinner, 4 guys started mulling around my outdoor table, they had a bad presence about them, the restaurant owner came out, there was some words exchanged and the guys went on their way, I had my hand on my steak knife and was certain i was about to be mugged at that moment...i have traveled a lot and have never felt like i did at that moment, my head was racing.

i also took a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, as well as some tango lessons in BA.

as others have said, the most important thing is you are alright!
lets see some pics

You could have bracelet made from superman's hide and it wouldn't matter. It's the pins that give.

Bummer, I feel your pain. I got mugged in my hometown of San Francisco a long while ago
& my sub was stolen.
Hopefully the SOB who stole your rolex will go to a place after he dies where he'll be whipped daily with a giant oyster bracelet.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune and glad you are alright and did not sustain any physical injury. It's refreshing to know there were lots of people who came to your aid.

Sorry to hear of your mugging.

I was mugged in New Orleans.

A group of no less than ten crackheads swarmed me, pushed me down and took everything but my watch, a Casio Databank, and my pants.

That event made a profound affect on my life and got me motivated to get my act together and go to grad school.

I hope that you can replace your AK and that eventually the one that was stolen will be returned to you.

Sorry buddy. Same thing happened to me once in Naples. The fact that you are unscathed is, nonetheless, the most important thing.

Good news is you are OK and weren't hurt. Bad news is your went through a traumatic experience and lost your Rolex. Not much more to say. One can be mugged anytime, anyplace. I'm sorry you had this experience. If you are still in Buenos Aires and are a US citizen, I recommend you take a copy of the police report to the Regional Security Officer at the US Embassy. Sometimes the RSO can follow up on your behalf on things like this.
